it doesn't matter what length rod it is until you get so short it pushes out of the slave. its hydraulic. whatever the length the fluid equalizes it with pressure and engages it. i tired longer and shorter no difference. engagement is affected by the pressure plate and throwout bearing. only way to effectively change the distance os to have an adjustable clutch pedal

^ 100% correct. I came to the same conclusion after trying a number of different lengths.

I think I follow, so perhaps an adjustable rod into the clutch master then? I've not ever had to pull mine so I don't know if that's feasible either - locking nut would be captive ;-) Other platforms can adjust clutch take up and I know some cars I've had the rod into the master has had to be tweaked. My RSTi has an adjustment up under the dash that's apparently a pita and needs to be tweaked. I think a rod that was sleeved and threaded might be better but I don't know how much compression force it's under. Fiddling bore sizes and whatnot seems a bigger hassle.

I think the easiest solution, if this is what you are after, would be the adjustable clutch pedal. Easier to get to and not $1,000 in labour just to have a look.

I had an adjustable length rod in my 996. If you tap the case and use a gt2 slave you should not need to mess with any of that. Rod length mods are done so slave doesn't pop when using a bracket method.

Wait a Sec? Does the Piston rod length change the travel of the pedal? Top to bottom distance is what I am referring to.

If I remember correctly, I think Tim or Prodigy completed this mod once before.

No it doesn't. We thought it might but it doesn't change it.

So changing the rod at the slave doesn't change engagement point, surely doing it at the master should right? If not what the heck governs the take up other than the clutch disk and PP? Seems like master rod length should effect it...

it can. would be easier to make an adjustable pedal though. since my install of the triple disk clutch my pedal is way high. since the gt2 conversion its at least in the same spot ewvery time so its easy to get used to. just to much work to change and as the clutches wear down the pedal goes with it

My setup must be different. I have the GT2 slave conversion with the 3x rep and the friction point is at the top. Prior, it was in the middle. I have a 997 btw. Not that the model should matter

On another note, Thanks for the clarification on the rod length 32krazy and prodigymb.

Did you drill and tap the case or use the bracket?

Both you and 32crazy have a triple disc and the clutch engages high/at the top in both cases. Must be the the design of the clutch since it seems most triples engage high.

Elite has the Evoms bracket. Don't know about 32crazy. Wonder if the bracket has something to do with it and whether if having the box drilled and tapped as OEM would change the engagement point.

Absolutely, when the bracket method is used, the slave is further out and would require a longer rod to keep the engagement point in the same place.
