Cool Is this a good purchase??

I'm planning to pull the trigger on a 2001 911 turbo with 81k miles. Everything is fine (mechanically wise) except for the driver side leaky ram, broken wood trim on the driver side door.

Vehicle options:
-6disks
-suede headliner
-oem nav

Upgrades:
- see below website.

http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.ph...&mode=threaded

Seller is asking for $33k without the HREs. Do you guys think this is a fair price giving the vehicle condition and mileage?

Thank you,

Mike

If it checks out mechanically, buy it! $33k for a car that is that amazing is a steal! That is LESS than a new HONDA ACCORD costs. Think about that!

If the car is in good running condition, and you have seen it in person (highly suggest this), then it should be a heck of a deal. I would have the throw the HREs though...that MAKES the car.

Agreed. Those HREs are epic.

I test drove it yesterday and it seemed fine to me. It's pretty solid. This will be my first turbo that's why I'm a little nervous about the mileage. But if you guys here think that it is a great deal (since some of you are speaking from experiences) then I will get it tomorrow. Thank you guys for your great inputs/opinions.

That car has been for sale for a while. The date on that post is Feb 2011 and I remember seeing it on my local craigslist back when I bought my car.

But $33K does seem to be a great deal, especially with all those mods. I swear they were asking like $42K on the local craigslist 6 months ago. They probably shouldn't have gone fishing for a high price if they were willing to sell for $33K. They would have sold it sooner.

its a buyers market.. 30k without. or 33k with the rims... have it checked out.... the miles are no big deal if you have an inspection done... this will bring up some issue, its up to you if its worth going threw with it or not...

At this age and milage get a PPI that includes a compression and leak down test. Also have them conduct a boost leak pressure test. Since it's at a dealer, they most likely will not have the maintenance history. Don't go nuts if the PPI shows lots of type 2 overrevs. Since the car has been flashed, the rev limiter has mostly likely been increased. You'll have to rely on the compression/leak down and second gear pop out test to see if there were any money down shifts. Price seems fair if nothing shows up.

Of course I love their reassuring disclaimer
" Expect some wear and tear for said vehicles age and mileage, but, nothing to be concerned with, we are a licensed dealership located here in Phoenix Arizona, 18 years same location. Seller assumes no responsibility for errors, all cars are sold as-is, where-is."

The car was sold from that dealership to another owner. And, I am buying it off from the new owner not from that dealership. I spoke to Mark at porsche Scottsdale and he said that everything was fixed except for the ram and the ashtray.

Solid points.. I drove to texas from ny and went 192 and drove back on a 72,000 mile motor that I slapped GT3076's on. Do a leak down and check the trans, as stated above.

Yes, absolutely positively do. However, it does indeed sound like a great value if it is what it appears to be. Best wishes to you, and keep us posted.

So I did pulled the trigger on the car! It's pretty solid so far. The brakes were a little squeeky when I drove it home earlier. JIC coilovers:/suspensions were a little bumpy. Any suggestion for smoother ride? No leaks so far (knock on woods). I gotta figure out to fix the minor leak on the driver side ram. And, I didn't do a PPI.

Does anyone knows how to get navigation disks for different states/regions? Mine is region 4 (I believe).

Thank you all for your inputs/suggestions.

Mike

CONGRATS!!!

My brakes squeak a little if I don't wash the car for a while and brake dust builds up.

I have JICs and I think if you turn the ***** clockwise it makes them softer - correct me guys if I am backwards. The fronts are on the lower part of the strut - bottom of it and the rears are on the top side of the strut - may have to remove some carpet to get to them, etc.

As for the nav cd, I wouldn't waste your time. Latest discs you will be able to get will have maps from 2001. Things around here have changed a LOT in 10 years... I just took my nav CD drive out and put in a cubby in it's place!

Post up some pics!!!

Would you suggest replacing the whole nav? It's like my best buddy (I'm pretty bad with directions) :-)

I'll post some pictures later since I'm using my phone at the moment.

How do you adjust the rear shocks? What carpet are you talking about?

Thanks,

Mike
