greedy boost control: any issues???
greedy boost control: any issues???
any one have problems with the controller boosting beyond the set high limit? thinking of getting one, here's whey.. my car has two files, pump and 100 octane. would like to lower the boost for canyon runs, but raise the boost to max, 1.3 on 100 octane when on race fuel around the street... the controller has always made me nerves, is there any reason to be? i know not to set it beyond the set limit of the tune.... thanks guys!

If you know what your doing it can be a really cool tool to use. I never had a single client dislike it once he understands it.
However, your car will throw a code for the missing N75 valve unless your tuner turns off the diagnostics for it in the mapping.

Mark, The last post about a boost controller you stated you can not run one with out being tuned to use one. I stated that if you are not looking to add more boost then tuned for there is no problem because the ecu will not see inputs that it does not have files for already. The OP of that post was looking to do the same thing. True or false? I know the answer. Also the fix for the N75 is to leave it plugged in and not connect it to any tubing.. No CEL.
OP, when turning down the boost on a race file, the ecu will try to run higher timing values but will pull the timing from inputs for knock sensors. When you change the fuel the ecu will adapt to the higher octane after a while or you can clear the ecu with a scan tool and force the ecu to adapt to the fuel in real time. hope this helps.

Post #9 to be exact. Sorry for hijacking your thread but the real answers should be out there for anyone to research as I am sure the OP did and seen this thread so asked this question in a different form.

He can also just run a manual boost controller inline with the n75. Less work to install cheap and works. I never ran the ebc with the n75 connected. There are 3 map values that turn off the n75.
EDIT: you have Proto tune.. email Todd and ask for the tune that runs the EBC... simple... either express the ecu or use Dura... most tunes have 3 free upgrades... Im not sure what you paid for..
done deal..

HKS EVC was the best I ever used, but never used one on my 996tt. Keep in mind if you run a boost controller on your 996tt, you are limiting how much your ECU can protect you (It cannot reduce the boost, if it overboosts, etc..). If you get a Electronic Boost Controller, learn it, live, love it....

And yes, you must know what you are doing and keep an eye on things with an EBC.
Actually there is an overboost protection setting on the Greddy that allows the controller to turn the boost down if an overboost happens. Similar to what the ECU would do if an overboost happens.

No I understand what he was saying I just wanted to add that there is still a safety with the EBC. It is not Russian roulette, there are still safety controls in place.
