From searching I found that you can swap all the guts and use the 997tt key. I'm wondering can I use the whole key and simply have it cut and programmed as I only have one key and would like a spare.

Can't see why not
You'd need to have it done at a dealership though - might be costly

 

I do have a spare uncut two button 997 key ( remote + blade) that i won't be using it... I think they sell for $175 + S&H but i might be able to do $150 shipped.

Thread is 2 yrs old and suncoasts sells the remote for $ 150 & uncut blade for $25 plus s&h.

Just re-use your old blade in the 997 housing if you are going to remove the guts from the 996 key anyway.

 

I would but I NEED an extra key anyway as the previous owner lost one.

 

don't forget for transfer or duplicate - the green capsule thing - think it's some kind of RF device, engine won't turn over with out it.
