Fabspeed Sport Headers vs. Stock 996tt headers

If you look around a little and do a search you will find that a number of very reputable tuners have stated that aftermarket headers provide zero, zilch, nada improvement over stock up to 800 hp or so and then its still very marginal. We just did a suspension on a 900 hp 996tt built by Protomotive and guess what, it had stock headers. I don't know if they were ported or not but they were stock. For the most part, aftermarket headers are sure to provide a fatter pocketbook to the seller and some bling to the buyer who likes to crawl around and look at shiny stuff under the car. I personally have heard of numerous aftermarket headers with cracking issues but none with OEM. YMMV...
i used OEM non-ported headers up to 900hp

There is a old thread about this where things are made.. Anyway I do not think the stock header will perform as well as a real collector with larger primary's but then on second thought its always tested on a hybrid's that makes stupid back pressure anyway.. So the header is useless and might as well be a log type.

Lols all the tuners used these cheapies back in the early 2000s and sold them for $1300ish. I had an original set when my car was 1st built that cracked to **** after 4years. i got another set off ebay (paid 150) they looked EXACTLY the same...
and are showing signs of cracking now...

This is an interesting thread. I have no perspective on how headers can enhance a 996 TT. That said, I do have lots of experiance on really big horsepower Twin Turbo offshore race engines making over 1,900 HP and can tell you first handed that those motors make just as much HP and Tq with die cast log manifolds as they do with custom fabricated tubular headers. We did much testing and could not believe it. Bottom line the inlet/header side of a turbo is not near as sensitive to back pressure as the outlet/exhaust side is.
