Limited Slip Question
Limited Slip Question
I understand that the turbo had awd, but no limited slip diff was standard.
I was told by a local Porsche shop that there was an option for the LSD on a 996 turbo.
Is this accurate?
If so, how would you know if the car has the diff? Jack it up and turn the wheels?

From what I have heard not many 996t were optioned with the lsd. Less then 10 or so. It would be listed on your sticker under your hood. The ramp type lsd the Porsche uses does not show up in the old school test you describe. Only when it has less then 100 miles or so. It does have a break away torque but with the wheel as leverage you not even feel it.

No but it was post here some years ago. Maybe 224? If i remember the millenium N/A cars came with lsd's, no use to turbo guys.

I just looked it up. Option 220 is the manual differential (aka LSD).
