Thinking about Tilton 5.5" Carbon Clutch Setup (anyone?)
Anyone running this on their TT? I'm more interested in reliability than driveability as my car is mostly run on the track anyways.
I feel like my Clutchmasters stage 3 is heavy and would like to lighten things up a bit while still maintaining some good grip.
From what I've been able to gather, this setup also comes with a flywheel as well and the whole setup weighs less than the 964 RS flywheel I currently have in my car, so less rotating mass and drag on the drivetrain.
Open to opinions.

Well, if it's anything like the Supra Tilton clutch, it is viewed by many as one of the best or worst mods out there. Best in that it's truly engineered well, serviceable, able to hold as much torque as you can throw at it, etc. Worst in that it's hugely expensive, sensitive to wear out prematurely fast, and completely devoid of feedback from a pressure standpoint.
I've only experienced one in a non-running Supra, but have never pedal pressure that light on any other application. They tend to be hard to modulate and drive (again, Supra platform) and people actually tended to want the heavier of the two flywheel options to make the car more driveable on the street. I think you'll also want to inspect the clutch discs very regularly on a Tilton since if it's street driven a lot they tend to wear out a bit faster than most people expect.
All that aside, there is good reason why Tilton is considered one of the kings when it comes to clutches. They really do sweat the details and build high quality products. Best wishes to you!

I have one...
IDK if its 5.5" in size... I though the triple was bigger...
if you can afford it go for it...

They have a 5.5 and a 7.25 in triples.
I do not want a clutch that wears out, however my car will not be driven on the street so that's not an issue, neither is a lot of starting and stopping. I have heard of some guys with cup cars carrying multiple units so that concerns me on their longevity. I will not get it if it wears out quickly.
Open to other options as well. Any suggestions for very light, but very strong clutches.

Back order for a year. That fact alone tells me not to touch the product, that is beyond ridiculous; even having to wait a month for such a replacement part would be to much.

I am waiting on my and it wont be here before tx2k12!
