I found a mystery **** in my car pics inside
I took delivery of my car on the 20th of this month and have ran a couple of tanks of gas through it already. Today I was cleaning the interior and found this **** I've not previously noticed.
The inner **** has three positions and the smaller inner **** moves like a volume ****. I'm starting to think it actually is a volume.

Light in between the seat heaters

I know this is a bad picture but this little box says K40 on it.

I'm guessing this is the sat/nav antenna

I started to google all of this stuff and I think it's a laser diffuser? I've never owned any type or radar or laser detector, not really needed. All of this stuff was a complete bonus as I had no idea it would have a banging stereo, back up camera, and now this K40 stuff.
Does anyone else have this? I'm still looking for a PDF for directions, I don't see a model number or anything. This is stealth install for sure

That is a component of your K40. Hit that button when you get nailed by an incoming laser beam from your friendly cop. It stops sending the "countermeasure" beam. So, check it. You should have, in the front - generally where the radiator is - a little black box that is the receiver / sender for the diffuser. BTW. When you start up the car, do you get some blue LED's that tell you that your K40 is being readied for action?? It should. Typically, you also have a remote control for that system if it is permanently installed.

Your last picture. That looks like the Sirius antenna . Check you sound system for this functionality.

All I could find was the little box in the front bumper that says K40. I turned the key on and heard what sounds like a radar detector.
Yes, the one on the dash must be for nav, my head unit has sat radio but I can't figure out the code to tell sirus or whom ever I want the service.
I did find a big amp next to the spare tire.
It's possible I just have a built in radar detector. I looked on line at pics of those diffuser bars and don't see them on the front or back of my car.

Also note that if you have that complete K40 system and if it is hard wired.. I believe it adds some electrical drain to the battery. So you would want to figure out what you have installed. Call the K40 people, they are quite helpful too.
That light in the console is the power indicator. Look for either one or two smaller leds that would indicate if the laser is detecting front or back. The noise your unit is making on start up is missing a final beep that my unit emits. I think that means you do not have laser. I'm gonna double check to see what my paper work says.
Nice to find these "extras" when not anticipated ....

That **** and the light on your batwing is part of a K40 radar detector system. If you a complete system installed (that is, front and rear radar protection) you should have two RED l.e.d. lights (BLUE l.e.d. lights are on the newer Calibre radar detection system) somewhere in an area either on your dash somewhere (mine are located horizontally right in front of the driver, above and separated by the tachometer) or in the center console area. Typically, the front radar detector corresponds with the right l.e.d. and the rear radar detector corresponds with the left l.e.d. (I have seen set ups where the two red l.e.d.s are placed vertically, with the top l.e.d corresponding with the front radar detector and the bottom l.e.d. corresponding with the rear radar detector). NOTE: some K40 systems utilized only a front radar pod and thus, only had one RED l.e.d. light in the ****pit area.
To see if you have the radar detector "pods" installed in the front and rear of your car and functioning properly, you should drive to a local grocery story or drug store with automatic doors to see if your system goes off. If you have a fully functioning K40 system you should hear the bleeps and see the red l.e.d. light up.
If you want to find the radar "pods" you can try looking in the following locations: Front area - on the undercarriage of the car right behind your front bottom spoiler/diffuser or somewhere in the openings to the three radiators, or behind your front bumper (this is where I have my front pod located, but you will have to remove the front bumper to see if that is where it is located); Rear area - (lots of places to put the rear "pod") behind the rear brake lights (will have to remove the lights to see if the pod is in this area. My rear pod was originally placed behind the passenger rear light) or behind the rear bumper (this is where I currently have my rear pod) or somewhere on the undercarriage.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
