Richard was forced to remove his cherished SpeedTech 2.5 quiet version by Swiss Authorities, as they require TUV approval in their country and he was the victim of a routine inspection point and told to remove it...check it out...he's close to you.

Thanks for heads up john, but at mo am undecided on selling the car
Hi guys....we just completed a production run and made an extra 3.0 RACE (catless) system. Normally we make to order, but I have a 3.0 RACE system I can ship right out if anyone is interested. PM/email or call for 6speedonline Special pricing...
We can also make a set of 100 cell cats to go with it, if the catted 3.0 street version is preferred.
Cheers,
Chad

:-) Just coincidence, we always tend to run an extra one or two - they often sell before they are completed. This time we did 2 extra 3.0's and have one left....Originally Posted by XLR82XS

If you need another one, this is a great time to snag it without the wait...just sayin....and we appreciate the strong support!

Catless will be louder than catted, so our 2.5 quiet would be my suggestion to meet your track guidelines and it's a great upgrade in both performance and sound. IMO, 2.5 offers best of all worlds. The 3.0 is fantastic sounding if you like it aggressive at WOT.
John - So the 2.5 and 3.0 (both catted) would be basically the same until WOT?Originally Posted by John@SpeedTech
With 100 cell cats, the 2.5 should be fine and the 3.0 is marginal (it is right at the 95db threshold). We have customers sucessfully using our 2.5 system/100 cell cats at Laguna Seca, CA with a 92db limit. We can supply turn down track tips for the 3.0, which puts it in the 93-95 db area...otherwise it's probably slightly over. From a power standpoint they are very similar and I can not tell the difference via "seat of the pants". The power is only different for approx. 1500 RPM's at WOT in the middle area. WOT power is identical at the low end and at the top end. At WOT, the power difference occurs in literally a fraction of a second, too quick to really detect as a driver...and it's not a huge difference either, so my recommendation is to purchase based on sound level desire, not pipe size/flow, unless max power is your ultimate goal.
As for sound, the 2.5 and 3.0 are very different at any and all throttle levels.
The 2.5 is higher pitched and exhibits virtually no drone. It sounds very close to the 997 GT3 in tonal character, which has an absolutely fantastic note! A nice wail at WOT, yet it's totally comfortable and really nice sounding when driven at less than WOT. IMO, just a beautiful tuned sport sound.
The 3.0 is very sporty sounding at part throttle and really gets going at WOT. The 3.0 is more raw, it's a little deeper and meaner sounding. It still has the GT3 wail - it's louder and stronger sounding compared to the 2.5. At start up and idle, there is a difference - the 2.5 sounds sporty, but not overly aggressive. The 3.0 sounds like something is really going on under the hood! And at WOT it has a fantastic symphony of sound going on, but all that said, if you desire a loud system, I feel our 3.0 X-Pipe is the better choice, it's higher pitched and screams like an Italian exotic.
The catless versions give each system a more hollow, metallic sound - sort of a sporty raw (catless) vs. sporty tuned (catted).
Does this answer your question?

Steve put our full 3.0 tips, ceramic coated with a straight cut edge (nice choice!) on a 2.5 system - we use this to achieve a moderate sound level - somewhere beween a 2.5 quiet and a 3.0 loud. He purchased our 2.5 quiet and then wanted it a little louder. Our system is designed to be able to tailor the sound after the sale, if the customer desires a little louder or quieter sound or sound taste changes. We have several ways of accomplishing this by only changing one component of our modular design. One is by changing tip size, another is muffler swap (replace a 2.5 with 3.0 or vice versa). Too many customers purchase an exhaust, then find it's either too loud or to quiet for their taste and they are stuck with it. They either end up selling it at a loss and buying again or living with it. This is unfortunate. We set out to make sure this does not happen with our systems or to our customers. If a SpeedTech customer decides he would like to change the sound, it is easily accomplished and much less expensive than buying a new system. And we can really tailor the sound up and down the spectrum fairly easily. Originally Posted by texeck

Steve is a perfect example of this technology in action - a textbook case of our design objective. If he wants it even louder, all he has to do is replace the muffler with a 3.0 version. And if he wants still more sound, he could then go to cat bypass pipes...Even more? Substitute our X-Pipe for the muffler and this can be run either catted or catless....all the while getting progressively louder levels, while retaining the SpeedTech X-Flow sound people love.
Here is a picture of our 3.0 slash cut style tips in Satin Black Ceramic like the ones that we did for Steve.
The 3.0 loud system I mentioned above has been sold, but I do have another one becoming available next week when our next production run completes. Please PM if anyone is interested in one of these systems, I can put it together as catted/catless & with choice of tips...
