I think you might want to qualify that with "In the US" There are many software tuners outside the US that have sold more progams for the TT than GIAC and its network of dealers here. and there are those that have just as much and possibly more experience. Just because Revo or PSI or others are new to this market and don't yet have a large customer base here, doesn't mean they haven't been doing it just as long or as well. I love GIAC and have been a long time happy customer in many different cars. But there are many different approaches to tuning, because its an art, and different tuning styles are appropraite for different people. Thank god for choice and diversity of opinion. Perhaps one reason to choose other software is because of differing power curves, or peak numbers, or initial slope...or technical features like the flashloader, or temporary test programs, etc etc etc...there are lots of reasons, and one should choose the most appropriate product for them. Not just follow the crowd like lemmings because everyone else is doing it that way, even when they are doing it with satisfaction and success. GIAC rocks, but others do too...
to address the original question, it is not technically possible for the software they flash onto the ROM to completely eliminate all traces of itself after a certain timeframe. invent this and you will be a VERY rich person. some trace has to remain in memory. whether porsche can or wants to detect this is a whole other question. The dealer won't ever see it, but the factory probably has the means...if they really want.
Stick with GIAC or Protomotive!!!!
Its real easy to increase power by turning up the boost and adding some fuel. The true test is how the software people deal with things like long term fuel frim and knock sensor correction factors. Then there is the issue of the throttle body closing. This took some very talented people a long time to solve. There are MANY reasons why this happens.
FWIW the GIAC chip may save you $$$$ in the long run. It seems to be the safest one for avoiding detection by the dealers.
