Where did you get that statistic from?

Source please!!!!! I have heard so many different numbers on up-force Down-force, ect., but gimmick??? I highly doubt that. A rear wing on a front wheel drive, yes, but Porsche adding a gimmick to the 996 Turbo? Huh?

Please show your source!!!! I really do want to know what Porsche tested. Plus, if you have x up-force, any down-force would be better, right? Does anyone have an official published document to prove any of this?

Also, is this a net or a gross number? Does it take into consideration how much lift is removed? I'm thinking 19lbs is the additional force added to the rear of the vehicle after it has done its job combating lift at 190mph. Also, does that force change as the car is turning?

I don't have my own wind tunnel but this is straight from Autozine magazine. Maybe they are full of it but seems like a pretty reliable source and as good as any (unless you know someone at Porsche that can provide you aerodynamics data). 9kg is right at 19lbs....

Thank you Sir! I believe that deserves a rep point. Thanks! I do notice that "floaty" feeling they are talking about. Probably better off with a GT2 wing.

The article is typical internet drivel. Notable only for the gross number of incorrect "facts" and an overly opinionated and negatively biased author.

Looks like a very nice job and if you like the look, that's all that matters. I wouldn't really consider it OEM though -- since OEM, by definition, is "one wing on top of another." Whether or not you liked OEM look is a different matter.

Regarding functionality, I agree that it could be the case that the spoiler/wing is intended to reduce lift as much as add any additional down force. Keep in mind that our cars are shaped like airfoils (flat on the bottom and curved on the top), so at high speeds there could be the issue of lift. The cosmetic portion is more the fact that the spoiler goes down at all. For a purely functional spoiler, they could have just had it fixed since you never want lift in the car at high speed and there's no penalty at lower speeds.
