RANT trading in the car.. has anyone done it?

So i am seriously tired of dealing with this car, I finally got it to run perfectly performance wise and other **** breaks..

the car now needs, a fuel pump (not sure), immobilizer brain, clutch slave cylinder and rear tires.

I am tired of dumping money into this thing so I am seriously considering just trading it in. I visited mercedes benz and they offered between 37K and 39K, I want to lease a c300 and just be done with cars all together.

would you trade it in? I am taking a hit on the car obviously but at this point I think sanity is worth more than the money I am losing lol

I am also hoping this thing catches fire and burns to the ground as I would get more money from insurance lol

I have had my car for 5 weeks, and have had returning codes 3x diff times. its frustrating, given my mods there is always potential for problems, and at least mine is 11 years old. Still the car is a blast, strong and handles amazing. If you can afford to fix, keep it.

I have seen your threads, I was in the same shoes as you.. after spending thousands chasing down boost leaks, doing pretty much all the maintenance you did too etc I decided to keep it but now, a year later I just cant justify throwing more money at a car

it is a 2001 seal gray with gray interior coupe.

The problems are not too bad, I am just tired of dealing with it. I need a car with a freaking warranty and that gives me no sense of ownership (hence a lease) so I can beat it and then return it lol

I am ordering the immobilizer brain today. so that will be fixed this week at least

With all due respect, I believe that the maintenance items are small compared to the depreciation hit you would take on any new vehicle. Most of the money you have spent has been on performance upgrades as well as cosmetical upgrades, but as far as maintenance items, I don't see anything too alarming. I am just going by the list you posted above.

I've had my car close to 4 years had very few issues; spent only on basic maintenance and upgrades. But I paid a LOT more than many of you guys, had full maintenance history from the dealership, one owner and had a PPI done. I'm very picky keeping up with maintenance and issues, which I do myself.

The trade doesn't seem bad considering some of the recent prices; they must be making a killing on the Benz
