Suspension Upgrade Complete

I just put Moton CSs on my car, along with lower control arms on all four corners, plus toe links front and rear, lock plates on the rear links, monball upper mounts all around and rear dog bones (I know the dog bones weren't necessary but, I wanted to take out as much rubber as possible).

Lowered car to just below GT2 heights and dialed in 3.2F and 2.5R camber.

I also upgraded the front brakes to motorsport 6 pods and 350MM ATE Rotors.

The results, -4.0 seconds per lap at NJMSP on Sunday, with real potential to trim more time with some fine tuning and some more seat time. I have to say that I drove a little off the limit as with the new suspension I had to turn the PSM off, which I had not done before, so I eased into the new feel.

If you are thinking about real suspension and camber, I can attest to a huge difference. 4 seconds on a 1.9M track is a lot.

One question for the track rats out there. How do you have your compression and rebound settings set. Also, where do you have your roll bars set. I plan to experiment with all of the above, but any tips would be greatly appreciated.

What tires are you using with those camber settings? How much toe did your alignment guy put in?

I have basically the same set up as you. I set the sways at full soft front and 2nd from soft in the rear, because I don't like a loose rear end, some guys do. For my home track, Summit Point, I set the shocks at 3C 4R in front, and 4C 4R in the rear, and at VIR I change the rear R to 5, but I have a 450/700 spring set so your settings may vary.

That is awesome to hear! 4 seconds is an eternity at a race track.

As far as I remember, NJMP is a very smooth track, so I would start with a soft setting on both bump and rebound. Maybe start at 2(bump) and 2(rebound) on both front and rear. The sway, I dunno. Do you have any mid-turn under or oversteer? If it were me, I would have a soft bar, leaving me room for adjustment. What spring rates are you running? It really comes down to what the driver prefers. I typically like a soft setup.

This! If you don't feel any handling issues leave it alone until you are pushing the car hard enough to have some handling issues. Setups will vary from track to track, so any random setup info will not apply to your car (exact ride height, grip level of tires/track, conditions etc) or your driving style.

rhargy is infamous around these parts
+1 on a lot of the advice above, but for both tracks at Jersey I set the sways at full soft front and full hard rear. I'm just more comfortable with a little more wiggle in the rear in the the Octopus and the 3/4/5 combination on Lightning. I'm running the JIC Cross set up and the spring rates are about 475/650. Also running on R6's.

Thanks

Thanks for the input guys. My spring rates are 700/900 and I am currently running Toyo R888s in 235/315. My suspension guy said he likes the Nitto NT01s better because he feels they have a wider good performance envelope over the session.

Toe settings are -0.02 front and +0.2 rear, front caster is 6 degrees, ride height is 4.52" front, 5.05" rear.

I have a lot of learning to do, and will continue to post whatever I think I learn.

I have a similar setup as you but I'm using jic and NTO1 tires that's a great improvement at that track I occasionally run at njmp it a great track
