Do you think you will be satisfied with the 996 when the 997TT hits the street? Be honest. I think the most prudent way to go is to wait until the 997 TT comes out and than make an educated decision. However if money if no object than mod away and don't worry about it.
I would wait most likely 6-8 months before doing the GT800...

But what could be in the 997TT to make me change my mind. An upgraded Lexus interior? It about performance and it won't be there stock for sure.

Money no object.....

You have never been divorced have you...

Gary,

i also struggle with the new vs. old design. fact is my turbo is great, has been great, and will be great for years to come. there are enough mods out there to keep me interested for a while too.

from a monetary aspect, this is about the time in a cars cycle that depreciation levels somewhat and you've already taken the hardest hit.

from a design standpoint, the 997 may look a little better here and a little worse there. I think if everyone here was crazy happy about the 997 styling, we'd be having a different discussion.

i am keeping mine, hope you do to.

btw, love to here some stories about the gt800 upgrade and what the internals look like.

regards

Gary: you should keep the turbo, mod it as much as you want, get the 997tt and do the same, keep both cars in your garage, one day you will miss those cars I am even planning to keep my fat junk for a while because its the first car I mod

no matter how much money you put into your car and no matter how fast it goes whenever you pull up to a light or park next to a new body style it will be cooler ... I sometimes feel this way when I'm in the turbo and a 997 pulls up

I don't agree. I like the 996 body better than the 997. Just not enough of a difference to me to be a big deal in style.

And when a 993 Turbo pulls up beside me I don't think that it looks any less awesome than my 996 Turbo. Maybe the 998 will have more of a body change and that will be the case.

I'm not one that has to have the "newest thing on the block" even if it is not superior to what I already have.

Sorry the 997 does not do much for me right now. I don't dislike the style, but it is not that radical of a change to me. The interior may prove to be more functional but it still looks like a lexus not a 911... and I will still have to mod it just to get to where I am today in my TT.

And like mentioned above... Until the light turns green...

If you're happy with your car now, I'd keep it as is.......Enjoy it, get another 12-18 months out of her and then sell all the mods separate of the car. I would then buy a 997 TT. But, I like the idea of a base car with over 500hp (hopefully) a simple mod of the computer should jack that up to 600hp with minimal cost. I guess we'll see when the 997TT comes out if its all its supposed to be. It seems the 911 is softening with every generation, and that Cayenne interior of the 997 with 500 buttons, not that fond of. I dunno buddy, tough choice, but, I would hate to dump more money into something that I know I will NEVER get back.........

Since your car is stock, keep it that way. If you're bored with it, do something else to make you excited about owning it. You can get a brand new car for what it costs to do a GT800 package. A nice early 911 would be perfect or a muscle car that you've always lusted after. Anything but don't dump more money in your car because putting something like this much power, is really going to hurt your chances of selling it later on. Not alot of poeple might be interested in buying something so radically moded.

Ok, forget about other people, it's your car and you have the right to enjoy it without thinking of satisfying others. Think about this, it won't be stopping with this, you'll have to upgarde the brakes, suspension and God knows whatelse to regain the balance lost. Throwing more money at each and every stage so it's a slippery slope that's never ending.

If you're that bored with it, sell it, get a GT2 and scare yourself silly trying to master it. It's not that much more than what you're contemplating to do and it's a special car that needs next to nothing, except skill to get the best of it.

Not sure which response you are replying to? I have no intention to "keep up with anyone" never have... That's why I would pass on the 997TT and wait for the 998TT... I don't have to have the newest thing on my block.

Everything I have seen puts the HP of the 997TT at about 480...

Obviously that could change.

I agree with the "NEVER GET BACK" but if I decide to keep the car for a long long time, that is not an issue.

Tough choices, but not ones that needs to be made right now.

Thanks for all the input from everyone.... I know that many are debating the same thing...
