With cars like the lightweight front engine, rear wheel drive Corvette, even drag racing on a full tank of gas can make a noticeable difference in traction!

Apparently there are two versions. 550bhp and 612bhp. If weight is to be believed the later gt is putting out 485bhp per ton. My car 350bhp per ton. So in reality the result is about right. Yes we went wot at about 70mph.

I would not expect a CGT to pull on you too badly. They are not as light as advertised, and you should have way more torque. That's assuming it was stock though, which we don't know.
Yes. I have k24s. Yes i have s. Flashed.

Modded or not I lost. I was a bit miffed 2. This thing flew...

My stock CGT pulls on my flashed GT2 pretty decisively.

Nice encounter! Your only a few mods away from being the victor. Gotta love the sound/looks of the GT though...

Upgrade them, aggressive reflash, 60/80lbs injectors and supporting mods. You will get job DONE!

I just sold a murcielago and a 430 and bought a CGT 6 months ago. my CGT will eat either of those cars. I also have a 996TT modded to about 600whp and the CGT is still faster under most conditions but it's getting there. CGT off the line is its weakness. it's notoriously hard to launch with it's funky clutch and loads of wheel spin.

I havent heard of 2 versions of the CGT and the mods I've seen were limited to a flash and exhaust that netted out another 20hp or something pathetic. chances are it was stock.

Both cars weigh about the same, and if R&T is right, the 996tt being a bit lighter!

So from a stop, the 996tt ia at its best. Same weight, but awd is a big plus to launch it.

However, with 605hp, the CGT has the advantage from a roll. Though I am sure a 600awhp (about 700bhp) would easily walk from a CGT!

The cgt is definitely lighter than a 996tt and you can feel it. By 400-500 lbs if I'm not mistaken.

Where did this rumor start that the CGT is the same weight as a 911 turbo?
They typically weight a little over 3200lbs on the scales in full trim with A/C, all fluids and a full tank. The cars have also put down over 550whp on some dynos.

I didn't start any rumoir, I just looked in my Road and Track magazine. It has the CGT weight at 3530lbs.

I checked Car and Driver and they have it at 3146lbs.

C&D is probably right...

Absolutely true.

I used to drive around daily with a 25lb. weight plate in the trunk of my vette for additional traction.

Considering how far behind the rear tires that rear trunk area is, it did help a bit.

That Road and Track number may include the driver and all test equipment for a 'test weight'. It's notoriously hard to compare published weights for multiple sources, but I know some of those magazines do publish their vehicle test weights, meaning exactly as the car weighed when it ran through their instrumented tests.

The 3146 number clearly sounds like a real curb weight, without driver and all that other stuff. The only other trick to watch out for is when a 'dry' weight is given, which Ferrari seem fond of doing. That means the car without any fluids, which is obviously a silly kind of weight to be publishing but makes the car out to be extraordinarily light!

Agreed.

1380kg versus 1530kg curb weight, a lot lighter. As I said already, 443bhp per ton versus 346bhp per ton - my car.

That's about 100bhp over.

You need 700bhp crank in 911 to be on even footing, perhaps a bit less as torque comes into picture.
