Yikes!! Smoke!!

I pulled my car out of the garage to get my bike out today. Didn't notice anything at that time. The car sat in the driveway for a few hours. When I started it back up to pull into the garage, A HUGE puff of white smoke came out. What's up with that?

Yesterday, I was out cruising some back country roads with a buddy following me. I came accross a long clear road and decided to gun it. My friend said there was a puff of black smoke that came out. Is this a normal occurance in turbo cars? I noticed that my old Nissan would also do this some times.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

The white smoke is normal as flat 6 engines will occasionally do this at startup. The black smoke probably means you are babying the car too much and need to floor it more often.

White smoke: The engine is a flat-6, so a bit of oil can sit in the head and quickly burn off when you start the car - normal.

Black smoke: Typically the results of carbon deposits and running slightly "rich" on your fuel trim - normal for a turbo car.

You need to run a few WOT runs at high revs to clean the carbon deposits out.
