Picking up my first Porsche on Friday...2004 996 Turbo!
After having been a lurker and an occasional dreamer for some time, I have finally decided to take the plunge!
She is a 2004 6-speed Coupe, Arctic/Black/Carbon, with 19" Champion RG5 wheels.
The Turbo will replace a 2005 Subaru Outback XT Wagon as my daily driver. A great car in its own right, but it was time for something special to enjoy year round!
I was very pleased to find a CPO 996 Turbo at a dealer in West Palm Beach Florida. My fiance and I are flying down on Friday morning from Wisconsin to drive her home, V1 in my carry-on...
I have followed Porsche since I was a child, but had to fulfill a few very specific automotive dreams first, namely the Acura NSX and the BMW E28 M5. The Turbo is the perfect compliment to my small but well-loved collection and likely to be the first of several Porsches...
As the car will be a daily driver, complete with snow tires, my modification aspirations are small for the next few years, just the basic ECU flash and exhaust.
A few pics from the dealer's ad-

Or are you going to trust the thieves at Braman? Please be aware that there are many stories of people thinking a CPO from a Porsche dealer will surely protect them (and they pay outrageous prices) only to sadly discover body work, issues and defects- and the selling dealer says "tough"..your new dealer says "talk to them" and PCNA says "your problem".
Just saying- might be fine, and I hate to rain on your parade, but the time to act is now.

Look at the Texas high-speed invitational thread, and the head to head race between MBailey and BHT. MBailey is Arctic, BHT is Polar. It's a nice pic to see the contrast between the two Silvers.

I am a huge fan of Polar Silver, but wanted a car with the full CPO warranty given my daily driver intentions...
Drove her back on Friday and Saturday, about 1500 miles total...
Traffic was light, speed limits were mostly 70, had only one construction zone with minimal delay. We saw less than five police cars and made good speed.
It was an epic journey.
As for the Turbo:
It performed flawlessly, hurtling us down the road in comfort. I think this is the first of many...

Congrats! You'll definitely enjoy it!
I did a long road when I picked up my Turbo too, but it was a little longer trip than yours. I picked up mine on a Friday evening in Tampa and left the dealer at 7 pm. 9 pm on Saturday I rolled into my driveway in the foothills of CO. Average speed 92 mph including all of my stops, which consisted of gas, bathroom, Mountain Dew, and some sugary substance to keep me going. Hit 180 a couple of times in the middle of nowhere in OK just to try it out. Awesome road trip! I just did another 800 mile trip a couple of weeks ago when I picked up my car from Vivid after having quite a bit of work done, and it was another nonstop trip from Phoenix to my house other than 20 minutes at the Grand Canyon for some sightseeing.
What's your plan for the snow tires? Are you going to get some 17 or 18" rims? I'd definitely recommend going that route since I don't think you can even get a 19" snow tire that'll fit your rims. Even at the 18" size you can't get tires that are wide enough for stock rim widths, though you can stretch a 285 on them. Much better to go down in width and get tires that fit correctly.
