EVOMS GT2 slave kit v. Drill/Tap Method

Since my engine and transmission is going to be out I was planning on having the EVOMS GT2 slave kit installed. I've seen write ups where guys have drilled and tapped the gearbox and installed the slave in the same location as on the GT2/3 which would also require purchasing a new clutch fork. My question is, from a function or durability standpoint, is there any difference or advantage in performance by doing the dril/tap method v. the EVOMS kit which has everything including the lengthened rod? The only difference I see is that you are actuating the clutch from the passenger side of the gearbox with the EVOMS kit versus the drivers side if you drill and tap it. I'm trying not to overcomplicate things.....

Thx....

You can offset kit cost with your own labor doing the drill/tap method. But if you are paying somebody else to do it I see no difference. If you use the evoms route, it appears to less of a headache to buy the actual evoms kit verses sorting all of your own parts. I personally will do the drill tap method when I do mine because I just don't like the shaft and bracket setup on the evoms. It just doesn't settle well with me. Can't really put my finger on why either.

drill and tap metho makes the slave cylinder mor accessible when working on the car. you also use the GT2 slave rod when you do that. so there will be no confusion on the length when using different clutches. other then taht i dont know if there is really any benefit to doing it the "proper" way.

I drilled and tapped my own, way easier to work on the car then the evoms kit. It is a real pita to bolt the bracket up with the trans hanging in the car.

If the trans is coming out, I would do the drill-n-tap.

If I had been doing this with trans in car, I'd just use the EVOMS kit.
