Can anyone comment on R888's in heavy rain?

Yes = NOOOOOOO

I have and will not ever do it again. To be honest any DR type tire is not good in the rain. I had to drive at a snails pace last time and it was crazy. The tires do slide if your aggressive

So just to be clear - you love the R888's in the rain and think they would be a great choice?

I have read R888's are awful in the wet, which sucks cause I need more traction......

I did one time and almost lost control going straight at about 65mph. The back end will walk during hydroplane and unless its a small spot, you will spin out. I will never drive in the rain again.

Mike Bailey runs R888 daily so he would be good to ask as well.

Hoosiers R6's are great in slight rain.... they have R6's as a pure rain tire. Best grip if you really need grip. Other than forget about it and go to ps2's

your alignment settings may have just as big of an impact as tires.
more negative camber in the rear reduces straight line traction.

I found a set of ra1's in a 335/30/18's fitment. I am just not sure if the 335 will fit on the car that well. Does anyone have any experience with this size? How comparable are the ra1's to the r888?

with 335s ra1's on a low hp setting (my 996 isnt far from yours), you will break an axle. too much traction.

I dont launch the car, Just want to prevent excessive wheel spin on full throttle highway pulls. That should not brake axles....Right?

If you switch to R888 315/30 on 18" your WOT traction problems will be over, I assure you.
I can even stay planted in 1st gear WOT as long as I dont load up and drop clutch. They handle well in rain as long as you drive reasonably. Dont floor the accelerator or go hot into turns...LOL!
They lasted longer for me than PS2s and are less expensive. They are a little noisy LOL!
By far the best tire I have ever used!

Thanks! feeling better about this situation already. Now if i could find out if a 335/30/18 r888 will fit in the rear. I have a 12.5 inch ccw on a rwd setup.

Treaddepot.com has that size in stock for $292/tire. They are heavier though. You may not need that much tread... May need to roll fenders or even more to get a fit though.

Love the R888 but they are extremely noisy!
