Yeah I originally planned on getting rid of it entirely, but there were a lot of different things going on during my motor build that sometimes I wouldn't communicate things (dad dieing at the beginning of the build and then both Matt and I moving close to mom a few months later really wasn't helpful). Although I think all my hiccups here and there are some how him funneling his hatred of that car down because he wasn't suppose to know about the built motor till the day he got back from vacation with our mom... Hopefully Matt's 280Z takes his hatred now and mine will be safe! 
I know we used different lifters but I cannot remember the differences. That was the intent was to not have variocam. Dave at Headgames had talked to Meckenzie/Proto and a few others about that. I had hopes to rev the motor to 9000 RPM, but Justin was very much against that even though at 8300 we still are making power. The way I was explained (and I'm trying to remember what exactly was said a year ago) is because of the large bore, small stroke and it being a flat motor basically the piston is like a mace so you add LOTS AND LOTS of cylinder pressure and LOTS of RPM then issues can arrise.
We actually tested it on the dyno since it was just simple as grounding the wires out. If you don't ground the DME out the car some how has a 6800 RPM rev limiter again FYI for anyone who wants to disable variocam. There was like ~200 RPM of spool lost, but that could have been probably changed in the tune. So honestly the headache of trying to make it work again and then tuning the output to them wasn't worth it.

Anytime. I had Steve K and LinKs here Saturday, LinKs was getting his feet wet with to 60-130 pulls. Steve was busting wheelies on the two wheeled fun machines.
steve do a cleaner 60-130 yet?
