Purchasing 03TT pending PPI and then Xcountry roadtrip
I found an 03 TT with all the options that I was looking for. 2 owner car that was purchased by the current owner in 2004 as CPO with 10k miles. The car now has 19K miles. Completely stock. I am having a local dealeship PPI the car on Tuesday and will be flying to drive the car home on Friday if everything checks out.
Obviously, my concern is that the car has sat a lot and a 29 hr drive might be asking for trouble.
Please lend me your advice as to what I should make sure to do before embarking on the roadtrip.

I had a PPI on mine and drove home 22hrs. That being said, make the dealer answer ALL your questions. Call them and discuss what they look at vrs what you want them to look for BEFORE they do the inspection. They picked up a few issues but missed some very easy ones that cost me a almost $2k.
The dealer I had do a PPI missed some very crucial things and the PO was not very forth coming. That being said, I showed up and drove away with a car that had a few surprises. Trust me, after money exchanges hands, nobody seems to recall the problems nor do they want to make things right.

Yup... make sure you specify what you want the PPI's to look for. I wasn't specific enough and just got general "yea it's good to go" kind of info.
That being said - i did a 20hr drive home and it was solid.

If you are having a Porsche dealer do the PPI then good luck.... These
monkeys are only good to do warranty work and PCNA knows that
Good Luck with the PPI if it's at a Porsche dealer

My PPI was done by a local independent that specialized in modding Porsches. I had them check every switch, bulb, function etc, beyond the obvious mechanicals. It was fairly extreme if I say so myself, but paying an extra $75 now to know what I was getting into was well worth it. They did find some minor things, and a minor paint respray on the right rear. With all I had, I was able to renegotiate a great savings from the formerly agreed upon price. I have ZERO surprises, and knew exactly what was wrong and right.
Common belief is that dealerships do not know the vehicle as well. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true. I would not take my 03 to a dealer except as a last resort.
GL, but don't hand over a penny until you have peace of mind.

I just drove 16-17 hours from buying a 2002 turbo. I didn't get a PPI. I wouldn't recommend that for everyone obviously, but I asked a lot of questions and felt the guy was telling me the truth. He actually offered to take the car somewhere to get it inspected if I paid for it, since he was that forthcoming, I didn't feel it was necessary as he had receipts for past work, plenty of pictures, etc.
Hell, the protective plastic that covers the carpet underneath the floormats was still on the car! No dents, no dings, etc. When I showed up I hooked up my durametric, 88 type 2 overrevs, on a car with 51k on it, which I felt was pretty good. No leaks that I could tell, in his garage or when we parked the car.
After we made the deal I stopped at the store to buy 3 qts of Mobil 1 and a gallon of distilled water, just in case I might need to limp the car down the road, but it made the trip just fine. It's got an aftermarket two year warranty as well for peace of mind.

I drove my Porsche on a 14 hour cross country excursion after I bought it. Get a quart or even two of good oil for your trip. These engines will use a little bit. I added a little during my trip. A good radar detector is also highly recommended. Check the air pressure in your spare. Congratulations on your purchase and have fun with your Porsche. Oh, good luck keeping it stock
MPLS Indy shop
I highly endorse Imola motorsports, or a couple of other smaller but competent shops: further performance and Stellar. All three are highly regarded here, and "get it."And lastly, although the name sounds ridiculous, Courtney Truck Service. Long time Porsche racer and shop, but started as a truck shop, and never changed the name. Great with suspension set up, etc.
Let me know if I can help in any way!

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I found a highly regarded Indy (forum search) in MA to do the inspection rather than the dealer.
