Front axle refurbish or new?

Anyone have an idea what new front axles go for on the 996TT ? I'm having mine fully refurbished ($150/each). I brought it in to replace the CV boots but my mechanic found some play in them so he suggested to have them fully refurbished. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Thoughts? (other than: convert to RWD LOL )

On the upside, he went over the whole car and everything else is perfect . Just a confirmation my PPI was thorough I guess

Am I the only one that has done this ? In any case, the refurbished axles are reinstalled and the car drives "superb" (according to my mechanic). I'm picking it up tomorrow; can't wait for some mountain twisties. Everything is now in great shape, so I should have a pretty long maintenance free streak .

A set of brakes and some front axle work; not bad for buying a 10y old car!
