Guys,

I may be a bit premature here, but here's the deal......

There's a pair of seats on eBay that I want to buy for my '71 Triumph GT6

I've emailed the seller, but haven't heard back yet

The seats are in Pandora, Ohio, and I'm in England

I'm guessing the seller might not want to send the seats internationally

So, if that does prove to be the case, is there anyone here that can sort this out without breaking the bank?

I'll try and follow this up with some dimensions, I'm guessing the seats are around 30-50lbs each

Here's the link to them

I do quite a bit of international shipping. What exactly do you need?

I'm waiting to hear back from the seller to see if they ship internationally

If not I want to buy the seats and see if somebody could collect and them and ship them to me

I think due to their size and weight it could be pretty expensive, so I didn't know if someone on here had a shipping company that could do this

The car they're going in, and the seats themselves are only cheap, so it might prove to be too costly to do

I'd guess it'd cost too much for an individual to arrange, and would take up their own time, whereas a shipping company would have less worries

Thanks pretty much my thoughts at the moment

(I wish they made these seats for UK spec cars, it'd save so much hassle)

Just guessing, but your least expensive option is likely to bubble wrap and stretch film cover them, and strap them to a pallet and pay LTL to your UK location. I think the hardest part will be getting someone to pick them up for you and prep the shipment. I work VERY closely with the 4th largest freight company, so I could get it handled or you, but I can't imagine this would be cost effective at all candidly. You would just have to say I want them, and bear the burden if you want them bad enough.
Let us know how we can help!

Cool
Thanks for the info

Yeah, I know it's far too much to ask someone to do, that's why I was looking for someone with a shipping company

I've heard back from the seller now
They've said they're happy to arrange shipping

Current figures are around $200
Does that seem in the ballpark or should it be more than that?

Seems worth it if they arrange the shipping for you. Cheapest option is typically to add them to a container but then you'll have to try and arrange that yourself.

Dude, if youre not in too much of a hurry and since the seats are bulky, i would recommend you do a search for "container share" you will find space on a US to UK contyainer that isnt full and its the cheapest option.

Nitti

Thanks man, I'd never heard of container sharing before
I'm in absolutely no hurry to get the seats, so this sounds like a good option

+1 rep for ya

$200 is a bargain to PREP and Ship.
After prep, It will be going LTL from pick up point to Port Elizabeth no doubt, then "stuffed" in a shared container with a freight forwarder. Then gets stripped in UK, and on another truck or two for local delivery. That's a fair price for a single pallet in my opinion.
