GIAC update?

Does anyone know how long from start to finish it takes to do an updated flash through GIAC? I have now gone twice to an authorized GIAC seller about an hour from my home, and am told it takes hours upon hours and extensive phone support to get my car reflashed. When I originally got the car flashed, I think it took less then 30 minutes to go from stock to the file. So after 4 hours waiting today, I am back home with nothing being done. Thanks for any info.

That's a joke! You should be back out the door in less than 30min. It's just a piece of software.

Call GIAC headquarters. Austin should be able to sort you out.

Thanks everyone. I thought it would be less then 30 minutes. The problem they told me was that GIAC had not sent the file while I was waiting almost 4 hours, also that they couldn't get support after 11am (Hawaii Time) or 2pm time in California. So even if they got the file and there was a problem loading it to my car, my car would have a completely erased memory and won't start. They also told me they have to send my original file back to GIAC, then GIAC modifies my original file and sends it back and there are multiple times my file goes back and forth. The shop has blamed GIAC for all of the delays.

Unfortunately I am on an Oahu, and there is only 1 GIAC dealer here.

Can't know for sure, but it sounds like your dealer doesn't have a lot of experience and needs GIAC to not only send the file, but walk them through installing it. Does the shop have a dyno? are they dyno tuning you car? otherwise I don't see why they would have to send files back and forth.

I can tell you that GIAC is an upstanding company with great products. The have an extensive international dealer network and are highly regarded.

I just had my car refreshed Tuesday from AWE from the 91 octane file to 93. It took them less than 30 min.

Interesting enough, I put an inquiry directly to GIAC on Thursday, and still have not heard anything.
