Are the Ruf springs all I need

to lower my car 25 mm. I have a stock 04 TT cabriolet that feels like a 4X4 compared to my coupe with H&R on it.

Ruf auto center has a set of spring that says will lower 25 mm when mounted on factory dampers.

Excuse my ignorance, but does this mean I can install these springs and lower my ride height for only $ 549.00.

The springs can be found here.

Yes that is true.....But, the main cost in upgarding suspension is the labor. So if you got to install for 1200+600 for the part, why not pay 1200 for the coilovers and 1200 for the labor, since u are already in there...

1200 for install? Wow, that's a bit high, I believe.

It should cost less labor-wise to install a full aftermarket spring/strut assembly in place of the stock setup.

Doug, how have you been? I haven't seen you around on the forums lately, hope all is well with the cars. I see there's been at least one addition, the cab, recently.

Hey Amir. Been busy and kind of out of cars for about year. I have this new 2004 TT cabriolet needing mods so I am back for help from the experts.

I did trade my TT coupe in on a TT cabriolet. I miss my TT coupe as it was perfect as far as interior and mods. Nice to have a TT drop top thought to drive every day.

I also added a Ferrari 355 spider to the mix. I really like the 355 for the wow factor as far as looks, but the car is basically crap compared to the 996 TT mechanically. Hard to explain. Love the engine and sound, but it seems so fragile compared to my Porsches.

Have not had it long and feel like every time I drive it something is going to break. I picked it up dirt cheap and now thinking about trading it for a Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 maybe.

I would just go for the coil over and skip the springs.

Soon or later you will upgrading anyway, so just spend the money now.

It's about $1000-1100 here in Atlanta. The $1100 that I quoted includes corner balancing and alignment as well.

I'm surprised Ruf sells a springs-only suspension kit. In my experience, lowering springs make a 996 Turbo harsh and downright scary to drive fast. You should seriously consider coilovers.

If you've got stock dampers that are made to work with stock springs, but just switch to firmer lowering springs--you'll be matching up a higher spring rate lowering spring and losing travel and optimal damper performance from the OE damper. Just my opinion, but I agree with others here--go for a matched coil-over set that was designed to work as a matching combo. You could even offset the cost of buying the new dampers by selling the old ones and recouping a few hundy.

Thumbs down springs only?

My car had only lowered springs when I got it and I was riding on the bump stops. This is very unstable in bumps at high speed. Now have PSS9 and there is no comparison. Save money by the correct amount now. Porches arent cheap. Making them better isn't either.
