Additional Front Down Force Suggestions?
Additional Front Down Force Suggestions?
I slapped on a GT2 wing / decklid, because like some, I like the way it looks.
However, I am also concerned with function, as well. While it looks good, I rather not have the added down force on the rear without adding additional down force to the front.
In a perfect world, I'd have a GT2 or the $8000+ to drop on a functional GT2 front end, but that's not what this post is about.
I am looking for input on those of you who have modified a 996tt front end (aero lip, diffuser, wind splitter, etc.) to add additional down force either with or without modifying the rear wing. What did you do? How much did it cost you? Where did you find it? Etc.
I found a nice thread here (this is the kind of stuff I'm looking for):

Ultimately, I may end up throwing the stock wing back on.
Thanks!

The problem is, without proper testing, how can you really tell if any added downforce in the front will match what you've added to the rear? Sure there are tons of aftermarket options out there, but whether or not they've actually been tested to be functional is sometimes questionable.
In your case, since you've added the GT2 rear setup, in my opinion your only real functional option will be to add a GT2 front bumper. Otherwise there's no way of knowing if what you've added is actually helping or harming the car. Porsche has done their homework on the GT2's...that's your best bet.

The front bumper cover should have tabs underneath to attach the aerokit lip, which several vendors have in PU. Not expensive and it's got to help some.
I have the GT2 decklid and I went through a similar thought process. Then I realized three things
1) I spend very little time in the triple digits
2) I don't track the car
3) I saw some article saying that the Porsche wing in the up position adds front and rear downforce.
End of the day, I decided I didn't care. What are your goals for the car? Before you put some splitters on there that will get ripped off at your first speed bump, I would spend some time thinking about it. I love this forum, but it tends to make you overspend on things that probably don't matter for 99% of your driving.
