window cable regulator motor remove replace DIY
#19
Once completed, does the window motor need to be "reset" for max closure and open/close with the door? I am thinking some type of resetting would be required: didn't notice anything in the repair manual.

1. Switch on ignition.
2. Open door window completely by continuously actuating the power window operating button,
and then close window. Press power window button until the window is closed and is switched off
by the blockage detection function of the power window motor. Standardisation is then
completed.
3. Perform a function test.

OMG!
Well I've got the full plan for next time. Engine drop, GT2 slave, gearbox cooler, pin coolant lines. Would like LSD but that major scope creep

So the passenger side is now acting up... GRRR
QUESTION: When the window won't go down when opening the door, what is root cause?
Once open, if I slightly and lightly push down on the window and then close the door it functions properly and closes fully.

Great post...and thanks for showing.
Interesting I have the door lock to do this weekend or next. I have the door lock to install on the passenger side door. The micro switch is not cycling the drop of the glass when opening the door correctly - all the time its intermittent…. Just like my rear wing but I fixed that.. It came as a complete assembly. I wish they did the same for the window… with a good discount. Once and done just replace it all.
The Porsche tech mentioned to start with the door lock first being I have low miles and no noises when actuating the window. Then he mentioned the regulator is the next likely to show issues and finally the motor is last.

Hi to follow up on the Door Latch assembly part number for passenger side. The door Lock as stated on Porsche oem box. For 2002 tt its PRT#: 3B1837016P
For me I work with many Porsche dealers over the years. In some cases Parts Specialists are somewhat helpful not that helpful. If questions are asked they go cold or tell you to bring the car in for troubleshooting.
Then if you find a good person to work with they may leave. Currently I work with Daniel at Sonnen Porsche - https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.com/
Very helpful and will reply to your questions more than just “is it the left side or right side part your looking for”. IMO So far #1 in customer satisfaction when I purchase parts and ask questions.
One other point on parts. I always buy from a Porsche dealer. Keep in mind all electromechanical parts when new are not created equal during a manufacturing run. They are classified in terms of quality control.
Hence if you buy else ware at what seems to be a great price the part may be same (made in same country-no big deal, looks ok, smells ok) but may have a fault during manufacturing.
Part may not be good as another part being made during same run/batch but it passes quality control. Then sold as B merchandise. I hate new parts that fail… example for my other cars Rock Auto offers less money on parts but they don’t last.
Keep in mind we own a Porsche and we knew getting into it that it costs more and as a DIY person and with all the help on this site you can afford buying quality parts. Hope this helps Good luck on your install ….
