gear stick clicks :O

I retrofitted the 997ssk, and it works fine. Only weird thing is that it clicks. Sometimes, it won't click when I go into a gear though. I noticed in traffic that if I hear a click when I go into a specific gear, I'll put it in neutral and back into the same gear and won't get a click at all.

Dealership says it's fine and that the ssk just doesn't fit perfectly. Any ideas?

Yea that's what I hear is the solution. How much for the cables and how much labor?

labor no clue as i did it myself and i bought a set of cables on ebay. If i was to do it again i would buy a set of cup cables as everyone says it feels better.

I had clicking on mine and it turned out that the stock shifter had a green plastic tab attached to the bottom of the housing which I transferred to the ssk. The cable was rubbing on this piece. It turns out it should have been left off. Once I removed it the noise went away.

I've got a clicking sound on mine too

At first I thought it may be a loose gear **** moving around on the gear stick when changing gear

Only happens when going from second to third

Could something be catching, or are new cables the only answer?

I had a B&M and then switched to a 997 shifter, and had the clicking sound with both of them

Also - how much noise do the cup cables transmit?

A friend of mine removed them from his car for being too loud......and that was on his GT3!

I never got to go out in the car when they were fitted, so I don't have any first hand experience

Yea I've heard of that before too. Doesn't really apply to me though since I got a completely new shifter and housing :/

I had the clicking after swapping out shift *****. I solved it by pulling up the boot and making sure the Allen head bolt was super tight on the lever - problem gone. I thought I had it tight enough but there was just enough slack for an imperceptible move when I shifted and it drove me crazy.
