Stuck in first gear
Hello,
Got a 2001 turbo, have any of you experience parking on incline and leaving in first gear. After some time sitting there, it acts stuck and won't disengage. I have to force it out, but other then that it seems OK. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks

Do you rest the car more on the brakes or on the tranny/1st gear? Does this happen if you leave the car in any other gear, or only 1st? Have you tried pushing the clutch several times instead of just once before trying to take it out of gear? What happens if you don't take it out of first and drive away, are you able to shift it easily or is it hard to shift still?

I rest the car more on the tranny. I did try putting in 3rd and it also happens with that gear. I tried pushing in the clutch several times and still no release. Yes tried to drive then switch gears, but still had to force it out of gear. It almost feels like there is something locking it place? I will try to rely on the brakes more and see if this helps. Thanks for the input

when was your last gear oil flush? redline 90. the 6 MT is often notchy when cold. if it's more than momentarily "stuck" in 1st ( w engine off ) you've probably got something else going on. if it's just when parked, engine off. try some fresh trans oil. GL.

If you have any load on the gearbox it's going to be difficult to pull it from gear. It's just how the dog teeth load up and bite into the selector hubs. Parking on an incline/hill always put the car load on the ebrake before putting the car in first or reverse and leaving the car.
