SL 65 Encounter

Unfortunately, I oversleprt this morning and was late for my workout, so I was a attempting to shave a few minutes off my commute. I have a choice of driving a nice winding road or taking a normal road that has been overly screwed up by the local residents - 12 speed bumps and 3 speed turns in about 1 mile.

Out of my driveway and I see two or three cars ahead of me taking the winding road, so I take the normal street road, but quickly come up on a red MB. As soon as I get close (and see the SL 65 badge) he takes off, pulling from me after braking hard for the speed bumps, but I catch him in the entrances and through the speed circles. Interesting, but not too much fun watching him pull from me after nearly all of the speed bumps, but more fun as I reeled him in through the circles - I don't think he was too happy.

Imagine what it would have been like if I was driving the tt rather than my MINI.

Happy father's day to all.

I ran one at the 1/4 mile track here in GA. I ran a 12.29 sec to his 11.7 sec E/T. He was bone stock. That car is a beast.

Is the SL65 selling well and holding value?

Not as much anymore. They can be had for MSRP and under as opposed to months ago when they were real hot. My friend and I were at Bentley where a guy with his 6-month old CL65 wanted to trade it for a slightly used Vanquish. He paid 185+ in November and the wholesale trade was 125. I would thinl the SL is somewhat more desireable than the CL, but with the SL 55 and SL 600 costing a fortune less, only the really wealthy will spend just b/c.

I would rather get a Bentley Continental over the CL65 even though it is slower, if I wanted a incredibly powerful convertile I would get a Viper SRT/10 by Heffner or Underground. I think the 65 edition MB's are pointless, same exterior, same interior, but different brakes, badging , and engine. Not very desirable IMO.

You'll change your mind after you drive one, really drive one. That power just never lets up. For some reason, I don't like the CL65, the SL65 and S65 are much more desirable, to me at least.

AMG really packs some serious engine into MB while keeping the engines reliable and emission legal. It's too bad the chassis tend to be heavy.

SL65 is faster than a 2004 turbo cab Stage 2

I should know. I had both at the same time, and the SL65 was bone stock.

I believe that! The SL65 is a monster... I just wish it was a lighter and handled like real sports car... I have never driven one, but I have driven an SL55, and it's porky to say the least. The SL65 is an awesome car though, def. one I would love to have in my garage

Sounds like it is a good thing I had the Mini. I assumed that even a stock tt is faster than either the SL 55 or the 65.

A stock TT is much, much faster than the SL55, but not a SL65. Even though the SL65 is faster in a straight line... I would still pick a TT over it, if I could get it loaded like I wanted. Plus, all that extra money could buy plenty of mods.
