a problem with a bone dry 996 (NA or TT) not accepting any gas (ie: spitting it out as fast as you can pour it)?

Wierd. Can't help you there. Saw your car at EVO yesterday though. The install looks incredible! Really nice. The car also sounds awesome. I think you're going to love it!

Ben,

It sounds like the vent is blocked. When this happens, it's as if the fuel tank is filled.

Got ya covered, Ben. My TT had the same problem. There are two flaps in the fuel tube leading to the tank. The outer flap (door) controls the one downstream. Stick your finger in the opening and push in the outer door. If you hear a click, that is the inner door being actuated by a solenoid switch. If the inner door does not open, the tank will not accept fuel.
There is an exposed plug under the passenger dash that rubs against metal and shorts out causing the inner door to malfunction. My dealer simply wrapped tape around the exposed plug, replaced the fuse and the problem was solved.
In any event, your problem is because the inner door is not working. My cause was the plug. Your cause may be different. Check the fuses.

Does this apply to all 996 models including the GT3??? If so, which fuse is it so that I can be prepared in the event it happens to me in the future. Which fuse bay (name) is it??? Thanks

crimped wire. sorry but i don't know which fuse. it also runs the rear spoiler, a/c blower, and heated seats.

Ben,

O/T but important. How are you and others from the area doing with the wild fires? I was in La Jolla in June and was wondering how close to you they are?
