B&M Short shifter
I see that it is a big difference. Do you like it, does it make shifting easier, did you install it yourself, and how much was it?
BTW, I like the color interior you have, is it special order?
Thanks

Definitely gives more feeling to the shifter. you can really feel the engagement. In contrast, the stock unit feels rubbery.
I think within a week I'll forget how the stock shifter felt as far as force and then it will be perfect.
Looks from the pics as if most of the shortening is in rearward movement from neutral . Doesn't seem much different going from neutral into 1st , 3rd, 5th . I recall a post that said the under car kits shorten the opposite direction , allowing you to combine kits . Am I right ?

David, I assume you put in a B&M. If you have the time can you measure the throws. 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th. I measured 4 3/8" on a stock GT2. Jeff

I've noticed that the GT2, GT3 and Boxster S all have the exact same firmer shifter feel vs the looser feel on other models . Is there a different part number for these 3 models' OEM shifters or is the stiffer feeling engineered into the guts of the gear box ? Should be easy enough for the dealer's parts people to look up .
We discussed the part numbers on RennTech. The GT2/Turbo/GT3 and base Boxster have the same shift tower, and have the green plate. But the throw is different, so it must be due to the transmission.
The 996 and Boxster S has the same part number, but does not have the green plate but you could put one in. I have seen the shift towers on the 996/Boxster S/base Boxster/GT2. The only difference I can see is that some cars use the green plate and some do not. I assume that is the only reason there is a difference in part numbers as you cannot buy the green plate as a separate part.
So if some these cars "feel" different and some of them feel the same, I think it is due to the transmissions.
In my pictures of the GT2 the throw is about an inch less than it is in a base Boxster, but they have identical shift towers. But the transmissions are very different. Jeff

Read this thread... You may want to do the EVO or at least get their new linkage piece (last post in thread).
