Well keep is mind drivetrain loss is estimated at 5%. That's not an unreasonable difference. It's still apples to apples but maybe more of a red apples to green apples comparison.

A built tiptronic IS a reasonable solution for those out there who are not professional drivers as well as those who know the damage that can be done to motor and transmission missing a gear at 700 Hp range.

Again, I said with equal wheel power and weight the built tiptronic will win do to its maintained boost, quick shift, and little driver error, so at a lesser flywheel horse power will brought back to even. If it were not for the 5% and the weight loss we wouldn't have this conversation at all! So it is likely a red apples to red apples comparison. The new PDK's have eliminated the 5% extra drivetrain loss and will never look back.

Also keep in mind the top 3 of 5 fastest 1/4 mile record holders are tips! While they are 997's they are the same transmission minus some slight anatomy. And to my knowledge the tip is 100-200 lbs heavier tho I don't have the exact numbers in my memory

PM'd....I get a lot of heat from 6 speed guys about my opinions on tiptronics. Most 6 speeds tell u never never never get a tip. I think this is bad advice. I think they have their place and in certain aspects an advantage over the 6...that's my disclaimer

The general consensus is that the Tiptronic is good to about 550WHP. I dynoed 500WHP on my tip and I don’t have any issues.

You can have the tranny rebuilt (Yes, it’s a Mercedes tranny) for more power but it’s a pricey rebuild.

I have not run my car at the quarter mile with the latest mods but I think since I went 11.9 at basically 120 with only flash, exhaust and stock k16 I would think that now with flash, 5bar, and 16/24 turbos it should run 11.6 to 11.7 in upper 120's mph. I did not want to have to mess with transmission so I was looking for a reliable 600hp. I can say that the car was easier to drive with 500 hp on the track vs. the close to 600 now. You could just floor it anywhere and now you need to modulate the throttle more. Not just for traction but to keep the car settled and to reduce some front end push while on boost. Car boost pretty quick now and you need to get some bite on off camber turns.

I can guarantee you that the stock tranny wouldn't hold up with 550whp.

Not wanting to start a match of words, so will offer only what I was told by EVOMs and my shop. The word when I took my car from bone stock to my stage was that the Tip was good for the 660 kit without any work, but going to 775 would lower its overall life.in either case, just the TCU tune was the only step. EVOMS builds cars above 1000hp on this tranny. All the time. Bulletproof.

So as to "guarantee" that the stock tranny wouldn't hold up, that may be a stretch, since many tips on this forum are running that HP and more.
Unless you are planning upwards of 750+, this is not the first place to spend $. My humble info only. I am not an expert. Just a happy end user!

Understood... you can believe whatever you wanted to believe. My car is SharkWerks/EVOMs built car and my car was the first Tip to have GT660 package. Can you name one Tip that hasn't had a tranny built that is > 550whp? Since I have a Tip, I wanted to believe what you stated too, but in reality it doesn't go. Sorry.
