If I understand correctly the first list of mods is currently on the car with the second list going to be installed later...
With the first list of mods the car should not be greater than 450-460whp. That should not overstress a tip in my opinion. I know of much greater hp loads on tips without problems.

As I understand it you don't need the 5 bar FPR until you get around 700...maybe some of the other mods too...

It looks like you're chasing a lot of bolt on mods...are you working with an experienced tuner? By that I mean someone who's not trying to sell you some aftermarket mod....You really need to take a look at your objective and let that govern where you want to go and what you need to buy. You're throwing a lot of money at this car...you may be better off going with a Stage II or III build rather than piece mealing the mods...or like I say, get with a good tuner of builder who isn't trying to sell you "stuff".

One thing you appear to be missing from your first list is a wastegate upgrade....that's not a lot of money but can make a fairly substantial difference. I'd back off and get some professional input....

It can take a lot more HP than what you are making now. I know of a TT in Kuwait that is a Tip that is well over 700HP. But the owner has had the Tip beefed up by 9FF. The car rocks!!!

You might want to talk to some of the automatic transmission race shops, those guys do wonders to beef up things like the Powerglide and TH 400, maybe they can help you with some stronger internals. Since the tip is sourced from MB give AMG a call too. Just a thought, might be worth a few phone calls.

I believe the tip is the same tranny used in the AMG 65 cars. It can handle it as far as I know.

I have the same concerns on my Tip 2005 Turbo S Cab. I was also wondering if the X50/Turbo S use the same transmission as non X50/Turbo S or a strengthen one. My factory warranty will expire soon and I will start modifying it shortly after. I will be shooting for a true 640 hp which I think should be plenty for me. I don’t want to even start if it would create problems for me in the long run because I have a Tip transmission. If that is the case I rather sell my Tip and get a manual one before starting any modifications.

You might try these folks. They have a modified torque converter. Not sure that you would really need it.

9FF is the solution for a Tip. There is a 996TT in Kuwait that has the full 9FF set-up. Get with your local Porsche guys they will know the car.
