Great write-up Earl, I really applaud your efforts to present the data objectively.

If you don't mind, would you recap the setup on your car sir?

I've had the ETS IC's on my car for over a year now and no issues. I've taken the IC's off and on too.. Great product and awesome guys to work with!

Thumbs up

ETS makes superb products.
Love their quality, and love the fact that they are made here in the USA!

Hmm. I think this test clinches it for me... I'll be going with the 997.2's. For the added weight of the ETS design, I don't think the superior heat sink ability is worth it. I also want to lose as much weight as possible from the rear end. I'll probably end up with billet K24's and not want to go bigger, so I think the 997's will fit the bill nicely.

Thanks for doing this Earl, much appreciated.

One gent commented about the plastic end tanks having an advantage by not conducting much heat from the nearby turbocharger. Excellent point. There are so many issues with building a superior intercooler [as with most things] that it is important to study the stock parts. Porsche spends a ton of money on engineering and development. In my humble attempts to enhance turbo performance [30 years of playing] I usually see a gain, but it is almost always with a detriment elsewhere.

A long time ago I subscribed to Christophorus because every few issues they would have a fantastic technical article with detailed information that I would never see anywhere else. That was where I discovered about the early 90s cat units they produced for the 965s. Christo today is pretty much a fluff mag. Too bad. I sometimes see Porsche Engineering but it is mainly $$$ subscription and I have yet to see relevant pieces about the particular cars/subjects I love.

Nice to see so many people thinking..and trying.

I meant to mention that there are probably some good ways to FIX those pesky plastic end tanks when they leak. This might be worthy of a discussion. A long time ago I managed to fix some bits like this purely out of desperation [waiting for parts and needed the car]. The fixes sometimes worked so well that I only got around to installing the new parts when i sold the car!

Recently placed an order with ETS as I didn't want to worry about leaking end tanks that seem to occur with the GT2RS

Thanks to Earl3 for his time & effort testing multiple IC options for the 996tt community best he can.

Also wanted to update that ETS now has cast ends for their 16 row IC's and are closer to 14.5lbs per my conversation with them.

Now to figure out what to do with the turbos...

Throw on the boost hoses make sure the flanges fit and the hoses don't pop off. Put the C clamp on and make sure it goes properly.
I had a client with them on and we had to cut the flange off and weld one of ours. Pressure testing found the inside of course.

Had the pics somewhere would have to dig them up what was wrong Just passing on the info because I've been there before and seen it done it.
