Hey Guys, I've searched but came up with a lot of different answers.

What is the current setup everyone is using now a days for your Coils and Plugs?


I believe most are using Bosch and 997 Plugs?

Part numbers please? Thank you!

 

I use 997 coils (bought mine from pelican parts) and NGK bkr7e plugs gapped to .024 up to 22 psi on e85. No problems yet.

Are teh 997 coils for the 997 turbo? Any specific year? or part number by any chance?

 

Yes they are for the 997 turbo made by beru 99760210400

 

i'm also using the 997 coils. pretty sure that's the standard replacement 996t coil these days. bbi? or gmg ( one of em? ) in SoCal is making some super(?) new coils for the 996 but i'm not clear on why they are significantly better than the beru oem replacements. they certainly cost a bit more. like 800 a set. yikes. but i'm sure they're great. i wouldv'e got em, but had just changed out my old 996 oem's

just realized you're in OC... you could stop in and ask em about them. i'm sure they'd explain the difference.

Denso Platinum Plugs at .026 gap with any proper working type coil..

can you share? idle.. throttle response? and would you replace perfectly good 997 coils for these at 800 a pop? i can see how they might be worth it.

 

+1 here. I'd love to know why they are better. On all these forums regardless of car sometimes we get so spun up in "the best" that we miss the very obvious objective test results that are needed.

So I understand they are lifetime warrantied, but is there any measureable difference in what they do for a 400-500 whp car? I can understand 1000 hp cars need the best so you don't blow up your custom built engine, but for average street guys does it make any tangible difference?

Based on the part number referenced on your page, it would seem that these are the 997 spec coil packs. Could you please confirm?

I've often heard that if you even try to order the 996 specific coil packs that you are now sent 997 units, but I want to ensure that I get the newer parts for when I ultimately buy them...hence the question. Also, could you specify which spark plug model is specifically included or if there are any options? Thank you.

 

Yes they are, the 996 coils supersede to the 997 coils, and those are the most current 996 coils.

When I replaced a coil pack a year ago, the dealer sold me a 997 coil, telling me they didn't make 996 coils anymore. It worked fine.
