996tt Values
996tt Values
As I have predicted (sadly), TT's have NOT held their value for a variety of reasons already mentioned. As I have been in the business of Porsche my entire life, I have a "feel" that is hard to duplicate respecting this niche market. 996 TT's follow too close, the japenese tradition of build ideas and cost savings. This is in contrast to the 993TT, arguably the "last" teutonic build that left Stuttgart. Even the 993 engineers were put to the test based on cost saving in production, but prevailed (to a degree). We not only service but in addition perform heavy chassis repairs in our workshop and we KNOW the difference in the way(why) the models have changed in build quality(just as all european manufacturers have had to change). Due to the extensive electronic substitutions for mechanical devices(cheaper), the factory had effectively "neutored" (snipped the nuts) off the 996TT when it came to the tradition of a 911; race on Sunday, drive to work on Monday. You CANNOT beat the crap out of a TT without have serious brake and handling issues, unlike it's predecessor's. For those of you who are "boulevard cruiser's", maybe this isn't important, but you get screwed too when it's time to "adios" your machine.
THANKFULLY, the GT2 DOES reflect a more correct example of a Porsche Turbo and what it can accomplish on the track AND the LIE on a Friday nite! THE GT2 will hold their values much better because of the visceral indulgence of hardware VS the standard TT,. along with it's limited sales. the excuse for the electronic "enhancements" are a big lie respecting what we REALLY want in that car! hance, 993TT's will eventually eclipse 996TT's in priceing based on mileage and use. BTW-try finding a 993 C4S for less than 60K! None around that haven't been dropped off a cliff!

I enjoyed my 993. Definitely a better looking car, IMHO - the interior was dated, the 996 looks better inside IMHO.
I track my TT continously - hopefully two weekends a month at the big tracks. I haven't suffered any mechanical problems (knock on wood).
I've never taken the time to look but I would guess there are 10X more 996TT and 996s in NA that there are 993 and 993TT - does anyone have the production numbers handy? It would be interesting to see

WTF is your point with a post like this? If you don't like what Porsche is doing, buy the company and do it your way.
Or, buy a F-car.
WTF is really your problem?

Their is alot of truth to what Mark is saying and i think that GT-2's will be much more kindly be looked upon, and priced, some years from now. The 993 to 996 was a historic crossroads and who knows if the 997 model line will prove to be a POS going further with even more electronic hardware. There is a price to pay for "progress" and if you don't like the results of such you are free to spend your money on the predecessors.
Anyone heard of Pierre and what he has done to his 996Turbo? The car is awesome and isnt weak in anyway that Im aware of ...I bet you that the car can drive across the world and have all 420 horses rearing up at the end in strength.
I don't think its nearly as bad as everyone says. Manheim shows my 01 as having lost $5k in the past year (on average). Thats pretty normal. and Prjections for Aug 06 show only a $3k loss from today. I can live with that. 03's are still selling wholesale at slighly over $90k w/ 10k miles w/ a retail of $97k, and are projected to only go to $91k in the next year (retail). Also a pretty normal drop, percentage wise. Sure, I'd rather have mine still be worth upper $90's, but I never thought it would stay there to begin with.
oh and I still have no idea what the point of the original post was...all joking aside.
