New Zo6 got 7:40 around the 'ring'

It seems like the new zo6 completed the 'ring' in 7:40. If this is true, that is pretty amazing. You guys think the 997 TT can match it? Here is the link where I got the info from,

Auto Bild mag:

This is the text:

REKORD WAR NICHT DRIN

Gerade erst GT1-Klassensieger in Le Mans, gab Jan Magnusson kurz darauf am Nürburgring Gas. Mit der Corvette Z06 sollte der Rundenrekord fallen - knackige Werbung für die neue Sport-Corvette. Doch mehr als gute 7.40 Minuten war nicht drin. Der Nordschleifen-Rekord für Serienautos hält weiterhin ein Donkervoort RS: 7.18.01!

Let me try to translate:

RECORD WAS NOT POSSIBLE

Just won the Le Mans GT!-Class, Jan Magnusson pushed the pedal at the Nürburgring. With the Corvette Z06 should the old record fallen - spicy advertisement for the new Sport-Corvette. But more than just(!) 7 minutes 40 seconds was not to archive. The Nordschleifen(northern track)-Record for not modified cars is still with the Donkervoort RS: 7.18.01!

The small picture shows a blue Z06 out of focus.

Blue, eh? I wonder if it was the Blue Devil C6 Z06 listed below. This Vette is rumored to be in the 600hp mark and the pics below look as if they could be from the 'ring. You can barely make out the '666' on the license plate.

Spied on the Nurbürgring, Blue Devil appears to be living up to the earlier hype . . .

EDIT: Link to story http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=102690
Given that the Blue Devil is currently at Nurbürgring (or was there recently), AND the Z06 that produced the 7:40 time was blue (just like the Blue Devil spotted at Nurbürgring), it sounds like the Z06 that produced the 7:40 time *may* have been the Blue Devil.

impressive number anyway. How does that compare to the CGT? Close I bet.

Yea I was thinking the same thing. Didn't it have the record for a street car with 7:30, before the Catercrap or whatever got 7:15.

I must admit though... The Z06 getting 7:40 is VERY IMPRESSIVE!!

Hmm. That would put a little better than the CGT in terms of power to weight ratio.

Wonder what tires it was wearing. Remember, people got all excited comparing the BMW M3 CSL on r-compounds against the GT3.

I don't know for sure but I suspect they are runflats, which is standatd on the new Z0-6.

7:28, 7:32, 7:40 are the 3 official times if I remember correctly.

It probably was the Blue Devil. I just have a hard time believing the standard Z06 could outperform a Zonda on the track... Might be wrong though.

Well it seems official that it was a stock Z06 and the time was 7:43. Keep in mind that this was done on stock run-flat tires. Awesome stuff.

That is correct. The rumored blue devil on the pics was nothing more than a standard C6 Z06. Quick ride!

These things are gonna be an amazing performance bargain in a couple years if you can find a used one that hasn't had the crap kicked out of it.
