Isn't the Death Valley area also great for testing TURBO cars because of the lower air pressure too? With the effect of altituide on Turbo engines it seems like a viable reason for testing there. Also the great weather year-round!

From the side and the rear it very much looks like a 996tt other than the bigger rear wing and absence of side air vent. Rumour it has only 480hp and it still a year away.

Yeah, that's what I was thinkin'....you guys could've surrounded them....hell, you could've car-jacked 'em! I could just imagine the panic; someone stealing the 997TT test mules...

Funny thing would be you driving up to CC with it next weekend!

Hopefully the rear wing doesn't come out like that. It looks cheap.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Indeed.

However, you have to admit that if Porsche were to pretty up that car and make it look as if it were a standard production 997TT, very few would even notice that there is anything special about it. Porsche isn't exactly known for pushing the limits as far as design changes go.

I'm not all that impressed for some reason. Eh, maybe it is the post-3-day-weekend depression sitting in.

I'm going to take a moment here, and speak from the heart...

Dave, that was seriously the greatest original thought ever posted on the Internet.

Ever.

Do it. Someone, please do it. Then, drop it off at one of our esteemed tuners, who can play with the engine, and get us an honest 600hp out of it, then fabricate the aero modifications that we're all going to do anyway, drop the suspension, change the wheels, put in a real sound system, then drop it off at PCNA HQ in Atlanta, with a note on the windshield asking them to please build this car instead.

malibu seems to be one of 'the spots' to test cars. I used to see blacked out versions of cars all the time when I lived there....kind of funny, in that first pic, I used to live up on big rock!

I cant wait untill this comes out, how many horses do you think they will be able to squeeze out of this 3.8 Turbo?

What "they" squeeze vs what we can realistically do are going to be two different things. I honestly don't see it going over 500hp. I would guess 495hp, maybe.

Tuners, however, will get 600hp+ rather easily.
