Looks like towards the end most reply's was not to move to 997. I guess after all it is not double the car but obviously it is not all that counts.
Oh, the GT-R debate. Looks to me like not even a GT2RS can keep up with it on a 0-62. Must be the 4 AWD plus the launch control that the GT-R has.
Thanks to ALL the guy's that replied.

I'd ask myself this; are you going to keep adding to this car, or are you going to just drive it.. before i changed tunes and added coil overs i was so close to trading my 996 in for a 997 tt. what i did was drive the 997 and jumped in the 996 and drove it right after the test drive. it was not much more, in fact, my 996 was mine so we have a relationship. lol.. the point is, i knew i'd keep putting $ into it. if i had decided to let it be, i would have started a new relationship with a young model!!! LOL... Plus, my 996 goes topless with a push of a button.. if you're thinking about a new car, regardless of how much you put into your car now, you will someday get that new car.. stop thinking, or just buy it... good luck..

But to be honest, I bought a really nice low mileage (sub 10k) 1-owner rare car (slate grey on red interior) and just adore it. It's really a rare looking car to me with the oddball color combo. Plus, the price I paid for it afforded me to opportunity to put $30K in mods on the car before approaching the cost of a 997.2TT. - The result is a car that makes a lot useable power, it's completely updated and I own it outright.

For me, stepping up to a 997TT would be a performance downgrade from where I am now... And to spend the same money in mods on a 997TT would net a car that I'd have a lot more money invested, but wouldn't necessarily be a lot faster than what I have now...

As for the interior debate... I know folks say the interior is so much nicer on the 997TT and I get it... But I'd like to state that the full leather interiors on the 996TT are really nice. At least for me, it's the nicest car I've ever owned and I am very proud to say that.

In the end; it's a personal decision really and you probably want to weigh the options heavily.

Funny thing... On New Year's day, I was driving over to the in-law's house for a party and we drove past a REALLY rare Atlas Grey 996TT. The car looked like it was showroom condition. My wife and I got really excited to see this car because I've never seen Atlas Grey on the road before. - We were both a lot more excited to see this car than the endless sea of 997TT's floating around the DFW Metroplex. 996TT's just aren't that common here and I get a kick out seeing them.

Personally... I wouldn't sell my 996TT to get a 997TT; the "upgrade" wouldn't justify the expense. - But again, completely personal decision.

- Chris.
I second all of that. I would go further, I prefer 996tt interior. Curves over straight lines, being tit man myself. .

I assume that the price of the 997TT's are going to start dropping closer to where the 996TT are at right now. This, with the 991's out and the 991TT on the horizon. I would wait a year or so, then the leap from one to the next will not be as big of a leap.

I am a lot more happy with the looks of my 996TT now that I added a GT2 nose. I really think that it makes the car look a lot more aggressive which is what I liked about the 997. The 997 gets a lot more this and thats that add weight to the car and I would rather have one that is lighter.

That said, the 997 is almost a second quicker on the 0 - 100 run which is impressive.

That is my plan anyway.

Thanks

Ed

I also like the looks of the interior and rear end more in the 996. I like the headlights and PDK more in the 997.

I have gone from a 997.1 C2S to a 997.1 TT....what a difference. I never had the chance to drive a 996 TT but i did drive a 996 C2S. Shop around and test drive them, there will be plenty to be had once the 991 TT drops.

I'm waiting for either 991 GT3 or 991 turbo and may probably opt for 991 GT3.
