Can you disable exhaust signal from cats when..

you are running temporary cat bypass pipes for the track and prevents the check engine light to come on.

It could be done by reprogramming the ECU... but to do so would cause the emissions control system to be running open loop. Implementation of ECU modifications would be extremely difficult for most individuals.

A much better solution would be to run 100 cell racing cats with a muffler bypass for racing.

In my previous car, when I ran cat-bypass pipes which had a mounting point for the 02 sensors post catalytic converter, the tech simply wrapped the sensor with aluminium foil before putting it in the mount. The post cat 02 sensor was not used for any of the engine management maps anyway, just there for emissions for the OBDII specification.

This might not be the case with the 996TT, but it is simple to try.
