Popping on acceleration!

Has anyone experienced popping (usually just one pop) when quickly accelerate from a cruising speed at around 30-40mph? Does anyone knows what could be the cause of this pop?

Is it an intake pop or exhaust pop?

I may be wrong about this but possibly a lean condition. I experienced the same thing when I installed an Evo intake and a Fabspeed exhaust on my car. The car's computer was never able to adjust to the increased airflow and I had all kinds of popping going on that I never had before. When I took off the Evo intake, the popping went away so I just left it off.

How do you tell the difference between an intake and exhaust pop? The sound come from the back of the car around the engine and exhaust area. The will only be one "pop" when accelerate quickly from a steady relatively low speed.
