My 996 TT Tip has the EVOMS upgrades and I also got a Transmission chip upgrade. I have about 575 hp according to EVOMS and they indicate the Tip can take much more than that. Check with them.

I have heard several people say they could not see any difference with evoms TCU! I had my car tuned in there shop and would of bought one had they told me differently! What upgrades did evoms do to your tranny? I wasn't aware they were beefing up Tips? I know they will do the torque converter but thought that was all! ToddZ tuned my car and it put down a very conservative 589HP and 605TQ at the crank on 91 pump! I thought they really didn't feel comfortable putting any more HP through the Tip! I could be wrong though!

I do however recommend adding a modified torque converter. I think mine was 3000rpm. Helps greatly with dig races and launches at the 1/4 track.

To add a quick question, is there any way to decrease shift time on the tiptronic? I drove a Ferrari 458 Italia, and YES, I know it's not this car, but the paddle shifters were changing gears in split seconds, whereas the 996TT I have seems like the same shifting speed my Acura paddle shifters has...

Some claim that the TCU flash helps with shift times. It did not help mine.

Ferrari 458 has a dual-clutch 7-speed GETRAG gearbox.

996TT has an automatic slush box out of a Mercedes Benz.

quick shifts are going to come with valve body work. IPT rebuilds VB's. not sure if its part of standard upgrade or if its extra. also a place called valve body builders said they could easily do it. fix euro said they dont specifically do it but have someone in dallas they would use if desired. the actually discouraged it tho as the concern was the ability of the TCU to handle the changes and any reprogramming required. there are aslo some solenoids that can be upgraded once the VB is accessed.

you guys are not doing your homework. most of the info is out there. start here https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...on-thread.html

Jumping back to the OP

I put 3071s on my 2002, plus injectors, aux fuel pump and a few other mods, and Motorwerks Houston did an upgrade to my tip for $6K. It involved additional plates and other "propriatary" mods. I'm not sure how much HP I've got, but I haven't had any problem with it in about 1500 miles. I know it's not a lot of miles, but it's all I can attest to. I understand Motorwerks is no longer around, or at least not with the same mechanics, so I don't think they are an option for the OP.

I also have collected a bunch of info on this thread. My problem is still unresolved . And will be getting back to it over the winter.

Fellas, anyone use an additional trans cooler? Keeping temps down helps a ton. Upgraded additional clutch packs are added into Renntechs trans pkg. Not a bad idea adding the raised torque converter either.

tranny cooler not really needed unless you track your tip, but not sure who actually tracks their tip lol

FixEuro recommended a custom trans oil pan to hold more fluid and thought that would help better than a cooler in most instances. Said they could probably have it made if desired and clearance permitting.

I just had the the TCU software upgraded to match up with the ECU upgrade and full exhaust and MAF system changes. I do notice that the shifts are a little more crisp. EVOMS indicated the transmission itself can handle way more torque/hp than I am getting.
