Some people are so ignant!

Okay I was at a local tire shop today getting my wife's 22 inch DUBS put on her sclade (wow getting a little ghetto). Anyhow I have used this tire place alot over the years kind of figured they knew their stuff right?

I ask the guy hey what kind of wheels are available for my 2002 turbo?

He comes back and says he can only find 3 wheels that fit! He is showing me one option which is the SSR GT10, on the same page is the SSR GT3 that I use to have on my car (obviously I didn't buy them from him) and I say "What about the GT3 won't it work?"

He says "No it won't fit over the brake caliper." I didn't have the heart to tell him I had this exact wheel on my car.

I just said okay I will think about it and walked away thinking these guys have no clue!

Now let me add this is a tire and wheel place with quite a few racks of custom wheels in the main lobby area! You would think they would have a clue but apparently they just stepped off the "CLUELESS BUS"

Some people are just clueless... But, I didn't know you could get a job in that field, if you didn't know anything about wheels.

Some of the fine people I have met at these type of establishments have put rear tires on front wheels 3 different times (3 different stores). I am not surprised. I now pay 3 times as much and go to the dealer. These are the same guys who encourage people to put $5000 26" wheels on a $800 1979 Buick Regal and tell the owner that they will fit fine.

It seems this an epidemic spreading across all retail environments...I was at Home Depot last night, looking for pressure clamps for sprinkler dripline application and their plumbing dept expert told me he'd never heard of them, and they didn't carry anything like that. I walked down the next aisle, then returned with a package of them in-hand that showed one in a diagram on the back with "pressure clamp" text under it. I paused as I walked by, got his attention, pointed to the diagram tapping with my finger tip on the text, didn't say a word, and continued walking to the registers. In the last two years, I've noticed that every time I visit Home Depot, I get service from a guy that should be wearing a red nose and big shoes. It didn't used to be this way. At least I don't think so...

Just a technical question.....Doesn't the word "DUB" refer to 20" wheels??

Lou... like he said, read the topic... lol.

20" = Dubs
22" = Dub Deuces

(I've been watching way to many car shows...)

Actually SSR does not produce a GT3 that will fit on a turbo anymore. I noticed a change in the GT3 lineup when looking for wheels for my BMW E39 5. Take a look for yourself on tirerack.com:

I could be wrong. Damon, help?!?

I know why!!! I use to work at a home depot. The problem they have is that there are "specialists" for each department and if you catch someone just walking by coming back from the bathroom they have no idea of the area they are going through and they wanna act like they know what theyre talking about!

So make sure you talk to the guy thats assigned to that department otherwise you get captain ignant on your hands.
