997 Turbo rear bumper for 996 Turbo....

Hello, I am new to the Porsche community and am already interested in the modification possibilities, which seem to be infinite. Being drawn to a more subtle look, I am interested if any manufactures are offering the 997 Turbo style rear bumper for the 996 Turbo?

Even though the interior and front end of the 997 look better than the 996, I believe the 996 rear bumper is actual better than the busy looking 997 bumper (just my opinion of course).

To each his own though. Here is one I found.

Thanks man, I am a little on the fence about which I prefer more, as I can't really point out what I dislike about the 996 rear, aside from wanting something different. However, with all the quality replicas being produced, I am surprised that the factory 997 bumper has not been done for the 996. That picture you sent appears to be of an actual 997 turbo, so I am still curious if a conversion bumper is available. Even though these cars are great looking from the factory, I am surprised there are not more cosmetic upgrades available for the 996.

The wheels, rear lights, bumprettes and trunk appear to be 996 in the picture. The owner put the splitters in the IC intakes and put on modified side sills, but it's a 996.

You can go with the Euro look. Stock bumper with the black bumper absorber deletes. Any local shop can do that for you. I can post pics of mine if you'd like or just use google.

Yeah, it looked that way to me too, but doesnt the 996 rear bumper follow the bottom of the tailight, unlike the 997 which follows the top of the tailight? I am new to Porsche, but that burgundy car looks like a 997, I could be wrong.

It's an interesting car. I definitey has a 996 deck lid and tail lights. The quarter panel with intercooler duct actually appears 997. The bumper is definitely a hybrid item that makes it all work together.

I wil give them a call and see what they have to say.

Later, Steve

Thanks Steve, it is a bit peculiar, and I am interested to find out what it is.

I was looking for the same thing!

The ones that are available are too bulky and scream body kit and "I am modified.

I am looking for the something clean looking that goes around the exhaust like the 997's.

Thanks

Bobby Ali

Agreed. There are too few options for the 996 when it comes to exterior upgrades. By my count there are are only a handful of options, and of them, most of them are a little too aggressive. It is understandable why there are not more options as they did quite well from the factory, but some variety would be cool. In my opinion, making a car look like the "factory special edition" that never came out creates an aggressive look without degrading the design. If that makes sense? There seems to be 20 spoiler options, but limited bumpers and sideskirts. With all the quality replicas around, it is surprising that there are not more options. I know that these are all 997's, but these are nice rear bumper options in my opinion.

I have never seen this, but it is nice....
