Thumbs down

However, the rate of component wear is directly dependent on individual driving style and the conditions in which the system is used. High braking loads on the track or in difficult driving conditions can lead to a noticeable deterioration of the discs.*

That should make PCCB owner's happy!!!

I saw the "general" disclaimer before neveer quite so strong before. It's the US description but the new one is definitely stronger.

I've read the page over and over...and I really don't see anything that says the brakes aren't ready for "prime time" use.

The statement: "However, the rate of component wear is directly dependent on individual driving style and the conditions in which the system is used. High braking loads on the track or in difficult driving conditions can lead to a noticeable deterioration of the discs."

Isn't that statement accurate for conventional steel brakes also???

COuld be except steel discs cost a fraction of ceramic ones come time to replace. One of the selling points of the PCCB were its longevity....

Chris Y:

As msindi says, steel rotors cost little to replace. The real problem with the ceramics is twofold: they were sold as 250,000 mile brakes (super longetitivty with incredible stopping, fade resistant power on the track - [just don't use them on the track]), and secondly, they cost bucku dollars to replace.

msindi...

yeah...the cost the replace those discs are pretty brutal. But so far, hasn't Porsche been pretty good at replacing discs under warranty??? At least my friend got his discs and pads replaced after really bad uneven wear.

Its funny but this morning my father who owns an 02TT abroad with Bailey DV30, Tubi and GIAC level 2 asked me about ceramics cause his dealership was selling them for a 'sweet dea' - around $11K - and he asked me what my opinion was since I know so much thanks to this forum...I told him to stay away and instead do GT2 with steel rotors/new GT3 brakes...Just ordered a set of GT3 fronts in red from Gert for him

Do you all remember Porsche stating that these ceramic rotors would outlast the lifetime of the car when they were introduced . Check back in old issues of Cristophorus. You'd probably have a good case vs PAG for them replacing worn rotors if you could clip out those factory boasts.
