Chicken or the Egg
I'd be interested in hearing feedback on moving from completely stock to better performance. Been less impressed than I thought I would be moving from C2 to TT. Had it checked at speed shop and it drives as its supposed to drive. So,... If the changes are considered separate $$$, what is best and what has to go together? Flash, DV's, waste gates, exhaust, 16g billet, FPR'S upgrade, etc. flash seems $1,500-$2,500+, exhaust $2,500 and up, turbo upgrade (sticking with16's) and flash $2,880, flash and exhaust $4,700; don't have $6,000+++ for upgrading right now but would like to enjoy the car more than it is now
A flash is going to give you the most bang for the buck and can be done without other mods. It really wakes these cars up and you will feel a pretty significant difference in stock performance vs tuned.
EPL tune with a 3"X exhaust and you will wonder if it is the same car!! You should be about 530bhp.
Ask Tony at EPL if he will credit you the cost of the tune towards the full K16Billet kit in the future when you are ready. EPL and Speedtech have great packages to save you $$ and are one the best products. If you can do a Light weight Flywheel with an upgraded clutch package like UMW kit and fit that in the budget would be perfect. That way you make sure you hold the power that you would be making and the power to come with the K16BILLET kit.
Thanks

maybe keep an eye out for an pre-owned aftermarket exhaust then get a flash to compliment it, it will add some pretty serious power, or just get the flash, it will still add pretty significant power but really needs the exhaust to benefit fully (they dont breath very well stock)
def talk to tony at epl

Hi,At your level most any of the tuners out there can get you a nice bump in power..Ask tuners questions in which you will learn and Shop around ..
Get a good exhaust to begin with and be done with it..
...Because once you start modifing,,you will mostly go to the next level later..LOL.

Great Feedback, please keep it coming !!!!! I'm sure there are many like me that want more responsiveness from the TT but don't knw where to start. I keep reading and searching too. Seems like Flash and exhaust is the first real step! Speaking of breathing - no one mentioned inhaling so I assume stock air box with K&N or BMC filter takes care of that.?? What is the deal with all the other bits? DV's wastegates, fpr's ?? Where do these fit in on the path?

Add exhaust and your @ 550 +/- BHP
A Porsche 997 short shifter would be the next mod,it will make your car alot more pleasurable to drive..
I have run the stock replacement K+N for around 30,000 miles and have had no MAF issues, its still the original MAF in my car..BUT I know how to service them with out using TOO much oil on it,,that is the key..

OUCH.....
Tony is a great guy to work with. Do keep in mind that these are small shops with limited number of employees. That being said, sometimes it takes a day or two for them to get back to me, sometimes I get a response in 5 minutes.

....Customer service counts to me after the sale..I was one of his customers ,with his tune and even drove down there for his dynoing tuning.
I had to go to Protomotive to get it straighten out which I am glad I did even though it cost me money for another tune..Past threads on this experience..
Good Luck,,Tony is a smart guy and you will enjoy his tune..
