To those who have installed Alpha 28 turbos can you please share information about the package you bought including supporting mods and how your experience with the vendor was? It seems like quite a few vendors sell these and I'd like to learn from the experience of others on the forum.
Initially I'm shooting for ~550WHP on pump gas (California 91). I plan on starting with Alpha 28's, larger injectors, and 997 GT2 RS intercoolers, and of course a new tune. Right now I have a cat-bypass EBwerks 3" X-pipe and an EPL tune. The K16s just aren't doing it for me anymore

 

Tony sells the a28's and seeing you have his tune already it looks like that would be the way to go.

 

Sambo TT is a member who has experience with those and is in California..
Tim is also right since you have an EPL tune already it might be cheaper?

 

Seems like the smart thing to do...can't go wrong...EPL support and Tial Alphas...good combo.

 

Mike, lets go for a drive this weekend before you decide you need more power, you will remember you need better handling.... two friends of mine are coming along.... gt3/997c2s.

 

Honestly I was already leaning toward EPL and after your reply plus the others I'm going to stick with that plan. I was just curious about how other Alpha installs went with various vendors and if there were any "lessons learned" that I could benefit from. I did search the forum and have read many related posts but it never hurts to have more informtion.

A28s are usually hard to get .. last set we ordered it was a 2 month wait... so if you fine em get em...

 

I bought my Alphas from Mike @ AWD hes a vendor here and it was a good experience dealing with him. I actually bought another set of turbos from him after that..

 

Damn, that is a long time! This isn't the first time I've heard about long lead times for these. I decided to ask Tony@epl what their availability is like and I'm waiting for an e-mail reply.

 

I bought also a set from Sam!!He has good prices and helps a lot!!

I like your plan though. You can get pretty close. CA 91 really sucks! I would do a larger throttle body and inlet pipes as well. Get her breathin.

Just curious,,how many current different versions of A28s are there now?
And how much difference can there be if the hotside is the same size??

 

AFAIK There is only one "Alpha28" version in production now.
