Engine continues revs after clutch disengaged
My '04 Turbo has done this on occasion and it's extremely irritating. I bought the car with less than 15K miles so I don't think it's anything age or mile related. It feels like a mat slipped under the accelerator and is holding the gas on. Or like the throttle valve is hanging and not closing when your foot is lifted from the gas pedal. A definite lag in timing that makes quick shifting impossible at times. I think it may be E-gas related. My '99 Boxster has never done it, and I've has it for about 12 years. The '99 C2 Cab I had foe 7 years never did it either. If I could switch to a mechanical throttle, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
1k is high for idle. should be a steady 750-800 max. when you get these history "less" known, it's best to do the "major" service items eg plugs/coils/gear oil etc to get that stuff out of the way and begin as fresh as you can. unless one has specific problems to deal with first. you may in fact be getting used to certain quirks of the car some of us are already familiar with, though your problems sound unique. but clutch slippage for example, isn't cool no matter what, and i'm assuming you'd know that from normal operating peculiarities.. the ones you will in time come to know and love. it's good to have a good indie, that's for sure. you *may* have a vacuum leak.
Here's to keeping the next mechanic visit under a few thousand $! (sigh)

I like the throttle valve hanging idea...I don't know how it would happen with drive-by-wire unless the throttle plate controlled by it is being hung up on the throttle body somehow. I'll look into this one....maybe some buildup in the throttle body like 02996ttx50 suggested.
The e-gas is a good theory too; the fact that it doesn't do it unless I'm under boost is suspect though. Thanks for the input.
