Used 996 turbo values??

Hey guys,

I am in the market to purchase a used turbo.

What is the going price for used 996 turbos with low to average miles? Should I be able to buy one for low KBB?

2001?
2002?
2003?

How much of a premium does the X50 package add?

Thanks.

There has been a lot of info circulating around this forum regarding the pricing of the 996TT. Do a search or just look at some of the posts in the past few pages. From what I have seen, it seems like good condition low mileage 01's are in the low 70k range and 02's in the high 70k range.

I did use the search function, but what I found was somewhat dated.

Do you think it is likely to find an 02' X50 for low $80s? There just does not appear to be many out there?

Thanks.

I own an M3 and probably will be in the market ofr a 996 TT or Zo6 Corvette by late this year.

My personal opinion and experience is that these cars are a LOT less expensive in the dead of winter when demand is less and owners are stuck with a garage car with a hefty payment in snow belt states.

You could very easily buy an 01 with 5K miles last Jan for about 70-75K. That is not even within the realm now when there are lots of buyers and few sellers (comparatively speaking).

I think next winter, when the 997TT is out or close, we'll see a real drop in prices. That takes into account the winter, new model looming and many weathty owners looking to upgrade.

Again, just my opinion, based on some basic logic and experience.

I hope you are right. I plan to purchase in November or December of this year. I hope it snows early so the rich guys have to store their turbos and maybe sell them. Thanks.

Been there.. twice I passed over the Z06. Unless you want to save $$, get the 996TT. You won't regret it, and if you don't you will always lust after the turbo.

My sales guy says used Turbos are hot again at their dealership because Porsche now offers used car warranty and because 997S avail is limited . A year ago they sat on the lots . Now they fly out the door as soon as they come in . When a customer comes in looking for a 997S , none are avail to test drive and there is a 4 month wait for ordering a car at full MSRP , but that same person can drive home same day for $15K less with the used Turbo with factory certified pre-owned warranty.

A8s are better in the snow since you can jack them up!

01s are in the mid to high 70s and 02s are in the low to mid 80s.

Try shopping GT2's. Last winter I nibbled on a few that were for sale and tried to get them closer to 100K. What I found is that most guys who can pay close to 200K for a new car are total pimps and are very tough to negotiate with.
